Check out ModernBill (www.modernbill.com), that seems to be the most popular billing software for web hosting providers. There is also WHMAP (www.whmautopilot.com), if your hosting accounts are hosted on WHM/CPanel servers.

Is there something specific you're looking for in a billing app?

Hi if you are using Cpanel and WHM then I highly recommend using WHMCS. It will do everything you need and the support is unmatched and the upgrades and feature adds are constant.

We use WHMCS now and it works great for us.

Try whois.cart(), too. Also you may try phpcoin. it's free and open source.

agreed

it will take care of all your billing as long as you're using a gateway that works with them. you can actually setup your own payment gateways.

I'd suggest:

http://clientexec.com
http://whmautopilot.com
http://modernbill.com

If you're on a tight budget, I'd suggest ClientExec, but if you have more freedom in your budget I'd go for WHMAutoPilot.

Again, whmcs and whmautopilot will only work for you if it is a Cpanel hosting solution that you offer.

ClientExec is great! I have evaluated ModernBill a long time ago and while it does have many more features then ClientExec... I still prefer ClientExec because it's more "user friendly" for our clients.

Now to be fair, ClientExec lacks add on's during the sign up process which is a really big annoyance... however it should be coming out in an upcoming release.

<fingers crossed>

Yes, ClientEXEC does not have as many features but they are working on them. The only feature I want is CVC number for offline credit cards. The newest version has everything else I wanted.

You should try AWBS, it`s one of the most complete billing systems I`ve tried so far. (and I probably won`t try any other now...)

Modernbill we like the best, although use to be hardcore WHM-Autopilot users. Modernbill has cleaned up quite a bit since the last time I used them. We like it, and it's all automated (with crons, which are automatic and you don't need to setup). Clientexec I havn't used in a while but did not like what I paid for. Also AWBS was too generic looking in my opinion, i've used it and i've never really liked template-looking sites, they just blend in with every other hosting site out there (no offense to anyone)

Hi

Modernbill was ok but lacked stability, mail billing support and didn't have a finished product feeling to it. I had purchased it because of all the positive reviews here but after implementing it I had problems with it not billing correctly and of course not being able to even do mail statements. It was a big mess to say the least, move a mass of clients to it and back off only a month later.

After the mess I evaluated many, many different billing solutions and Ubersmith was a top choice along with platypus from opensrs and emerald from iea-software all being very professional solutions.

At this point the my company is still using a custom in house solution because nothing seemed to have all the fuctions wanted.

I use iHost and it's great. It keeps track of all the members and how much they paid, their domain, package, and what their last payment was with. It's pretty cheap too.

Well I have used OptiGold before and although it had a HUGE setup and learning curve once it was set up it work pretty good but its not for begginers.

Used ModernBill for a few months, got it figured out but had a few problems with .ca domains not getting though to Enom. Plus no OpenSRS in MB 5 which is what I need since I switched to OpenSRS.

Tried to install UberSmith but all I got errors after errors. Gave up.

Went with CE and so far its been good. It does lack in some functions atm but its got what I need for now and works good.

What hosting control panel will you be running? Your selection of hosting control panel will affect what billing control panel you should use.

I vote for www.awbs.com.

It is probably the ugliest looking billing system (Client area is especially "old fashioned")... but it is probably also the most feature-packed system available. It pretty much has everything Modernbill has, but does not require the complex setup and learning curve. It is easy to use, and works very well.

The template system is also pretty stupid, but if you use the "bare" theme and don't try to skin it for your entire site.. it works well. (Ie: Use the "bare" theme just like you would for the other billing systems and you only need to add your header/footer content instead of having awbs manage your entire site. (Many people don't know about the bare them.)

I like the iBizPanel becaue it's fully automated billing software that comes with 5000 iBiz websites at no extra charge. What other billing software here gives you that? It fully automates invoices, receipts, welcome letters, account creation, domain setup on the iBizPanel, private label branding, customized colors AND comes with 5000 websites with 500 MB of disk space and 20 GB of data transfer, for EACH website. All inclusive.

I like it because the iBizPanel can sell any product, not just web hosting and domain names. You can use it to create product links which potential customers can click to buy anything you want to sell. It automatically creates an account for the customer, charges his credit card using AuthorizeNET or Pay Pal, and notifies you of the sale. It has a 30 day free trial (http://www.serversanddomains.com/flatfeeplan.htm)in case you're interested in giving it a try. I use it extensively myself to invoice and bill hundreds of clients, and so do many of our resellers. Everybody really likes the flexibility and the powerful features that are unique to the iBizPanel software.

Go for whmcs, we purchased a full licence a while back and it is the easiest to use, setup, control for admins, support is great for it. Also it is very easy for your clients to use :).

If you don't get whmcs now you will only change to it later.

Hope that Helps

The iBizPanel will only automatically setup websites on the iBizPanel. The way I use it for other products like selling cPanel, or selling Reflexion spam protection, or to sell VoIP. When the customer places an order, a billing account is created and the payment is collected and a welcome letter is sent, all within the iBizPanel. After verifiying that it is not a fraudulent order, I simply go to my WHM and create the new account, or setup the spam protection or setup the VoIP. Then notify the customer when it is ready.

The iBizPanel bills the client any and every way you would need it to. It will bill clients for any item you want to sell as a one time charge or setup fee, plus a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual fee. Discounts and Pro-rating due dates can also be applied. You can also customize billing for individual clients, or create different products and price points for Direct Clients versus Resellers.

But iBizPanel is unique in that it can also bill a client based on a fixed Markup percentage of cost or based on a fixed amount. This is useful if you are reselling dedicated servers and want to simply markup your cost by 40% for all options. Or if you want to simply add say $10 above your cost for some option or product. Other programs I've tried don't do that.

Did I mention that the iBizPanel will also allow you to resell dedicated servers too? With just about any configuration of Linux or Windows, with Plesk control panels optional.

The website www.ibizpanel.com (http://www.ibizpanel.com) is a generic website for resellers to copy and use for sales. My copy is at www.myibizpanel.com. If you actually want to try it, you need to go to my website and try the 30 day free trial (http://www.serversanddomains.com/flatfeeplan.htm) of the Flat Fee Reseller plan. It's no joke. I really like it and appreciate what it can do, above and beyond what other billing programs do.

It's free to try it out. Just let me know if you're interested.

Obviously yes, although if you look closer at the 2.5 version you will notice the modular base so that it can support other control panels in its next complete release. Which means that if you are currently using cpanel its great and if you wish to change or use something different it will work (at a later stage).

Yes that's true but it can do so much more than that. It's cheaper than buying another billing software program and with the 5000 websites it includes, your cost drops to only $0.03 per GB of disk space when you fill it up. Compare that to $2 - $3 per GB on the average cPanel account.

For example, if you host at RZ with 2 GB of disk space for 50 domains. That's only 40 MB per domain without overselling, but with iBizPanel, you can host those 50 domains with 1000 MB each and still have 4950 GB of space left to resell. You don't need to oversell. If you can fill it up with a few thousand domains quickly, your cost is way lower than any other platform.

Also, any of the CGI or PHP scripts that work on cPanel, also work on iBizPanel. It just doesn't have a Fantastico to install them for you. You have to install the scripts the old fashioned way. :smokin:
