What host would you suggest for hosting a discussion list?

Requirements:

About 3000 users
10-20 MB of messages posted per month
2 GB disk space required for archiving messages; this list is several years old

One peculiarity about hosting a discussion list is that traffic can get VERY bursty at times. If someone makes a 200k posting to the list (and this has happened in the past) then it has to push out 600 MB of traffic which would occupy a T1 for an hour!

A host that gives me a 100Mbps connection and charges by total usage (not 95 percentile usage) would work marvelously for this.

Right now I'm looking at 4webspace.com ($100 for a dedicated RaQ3 with 100 GB of transfer). My only concern with 4webspace.com is that if I exceed 100 GB in the future, then extra traffic starts costing $4 per GB instead of $1 per GB.

Any other good hosts I should consider?

Thats the cheapest you will find. Maxim.net is cheaper, but there service has got mixed responses. 4webspace.com service is excellent. Plus, 100gb is a large amount of bandwidth.

I'm not sure that you would really want to place such an active message forum on a RAQ server. They are generally underpowered, consider a real dedicated linux box. Good luck!

It's not a forum. It's a mailing list.
