I received this payment today, it looks like:

If the payment is still pending or the funds are not collected after 30 days, the transaction will be automatically cancelled. The sender can cancel this transaction anytime before you collect the funds.


What does this mean, I've never had such a payment, it's not instant and it's not an echeck, which clears in 4-5 days. The status of this payment still stays pending.

Any ideas??

Have you been accepting payment from this person?

It simply means they are sending the funds directly from their bank account due to paypal. Think of it as a direct deposit into paypal.

No, this is the first payment from this person.

Okay, but when is it going to be cleared then? I couldn't find any info on paypal website, is it 4-5 days as well ?

Think of it as an eCheck. Usually 4-5 days depending on senders bank.

CybexHost, thanks for clarification, I just never seen something like this before , hopefully the person won't cancel it.

If they're going to the trouble to send it, they probably won't cancel it. You should just wait to provide the services until the eCheck clears.

Did the email have a link in it? Are you sure its a legit Paypal email and not a phisher?

I've gotten payments like this before.. always international. Sometimes they come through, sometimes they expire without funds ever showing up, either way I don't deliver services until the payment clears.

The first time I saw one of these mails I wrote customer service to ask what it was (also not finding explanation of this type of payment anywhere), and never got a response.

If you received the payment from an international buyer, they may be using a method that requires them to "push" the funds from their bank account (as opposed to PayPal's eChecks, which are "pulled" from a bank account). Because the buyer must go to the bank (or the bank's website) to initiate the funds transfer, PayPal cannot give an accurate estimate of the delay in receiving the funds.

Similar to eChecks, the funds for the Pending payment are not guaranteed, and you should not ship any goods until the funds have cleared.
