There are so many hosting companies out there nowadays. I was just wondering how long it usually takes for a new company to get to the stage when it can have a profit from the business?

So far I have seen much better deals but they say that they got profit very quickly. How companies with, lets say, more expensive hosting plans get their customers? This remains mystery for me. I was just wondering how long it usually takes for a new company to get to the stage when it can have a profit from the business? Took me about 6 months with very little advertising... Once the old house is sold though, I plan to do some major advertising. Funny thing is, alot of my income comes from dialup access, probably more than web hosting. I have more friends that hate paying high prices for dialup access, and many local businesses that hate paying high prices for web hosting, when they do very little traffic. Just my two cents... YMMV... Steve successful 05-30-2002, 07:32 PM Originally posted by Santoman Took me about 6 months with very little advertising... Hare today, gone tommorow I totally agree Santoman 05-30-2002, 07:42 PM Originally posted by successful Whos dialup service are you reselling ? dialupUSA. They offered a pretty good deal, and they also offered quite a few networks, so I'm covered quite well nationally. They are also very informative with network status. All and all I'm very happy with them. I know AASP was offering dialup access for as low as something like 4.95, but, I'm very happy with the support I've gotten from dialupUSA. They might not offer the best deal going however they may offer great customer service which at the end of the day will make or break your business. I have found the same. Even though my prices are low, there are alot of webhosting companies out there. Customer service is king. I have one client that has problems with things alot. I'd rather take the time to help him out, even with simple things like mail settings, than give him the cold shoulder. He can easily find another web hosting company. I think it is this way with any business. I know, I personally carry a 2-way pager, that allows me to handle incoming help desk tickets immediately no matter where I am. I found that to be important. No one wants to wait HOURS for help. Steve vibehosts 05-30-2002, 08:58 PM Rackvillage you are completely correct. We took a few months to plan our business out and thats why we feel we were so successful early and same goes for people like Ryan at gearhost.com ho planned for years about his company. |
