View Full Version : domain name transfer being held up?

Hi,
I initiated a transfer into enom and namecheap on the 23rd May from my current ISP and NetSol.

My current ISP got the transfer email from NetSol and replied correctly on the 24th, but when I go to namecheap it says "Domain transfer initiated and awaiting approval" it is now the 30th and its still the same.

The domain is up for renewal on the 14th June I`m hoping it gets across before then.

Anyone experienced this before? is it being held up by NetSol due to it being close to renewal? other domains I have moved to namecheap have gone through in 24hrs.

Thanks for any advice.

Phil

This is not uncommon.

NetSol will often not accept a transfer out three and four times before it finally goes through.

Hi thanks for your replies,

I couldn`t find any live support at NetSol except their usual autoresponder support ( haha last week I sent them an email and got an autoresponder I then followed the autoresponders instructions after 3 days and guess what I got another autoresponder, does anybody work there?).

Does that mean I have to keep on submitting it for transfer and my current host has to continue replying to authorisation emails until it goes through, I`m not sure how long I should leave it till I try again.

Thanks for your help so far.

mine's also held up, for ard 5 working days already yet still not transferred. both were from different opensrs resellers and transfer to stargate

BTW, namesdirect cannot transfer the domain out? Stargate says that they don't accept transfers from namesdirect...yikes! and due to some reason (isp?) I can't connect to namesdirect to change my dns... sheesh~

I only managed to change it at my office... one day...

Unless your domain is locked or your admin email contact is incorrect, there is no delay for OpenSRS transfers out. This is clearly stipulated in the agreement that a reseller makes with OpenSRS.

Once you initiate the transfer, all you would have to do is authorize it via the admin email and it's gone.

Contact your reseller, and if that does not work contact OpenSRS support directly.

I'm almost scared to transfer a domain I have with Netsol... I don't want it to get screwed up by them and either loose it, or be down for months...

I almost feel like I'm paying randsome to keep my domain...

As long as you start early, you won't risk losing your domain. It may sound sscary sometimes, but you'll be able to get through it :). Worst case, you'll have to renew at NetSol, wait 45 days, and try again. Best case, the transfer will go through the first attempt! That also happens :)

Just a note, I transfered 3 domains from Netsol without any problems. What I was told was that the admin email address SHOULD be the same with the new registrar when you transfer it. After it is transfered, then you change what you want.

Three separate domains, 3 days to transfer for each, start to finish.

Now after a week I get this email from the host who I`m trying to transfer to::

This notice is to inform you that your domain transfer was cancelled due to the reason mentioned below. Please look at the reason
description below.

Reason for Cancellation :
Canceled - Transfer rejected by losing registrar

Wow how can they do that, these guys are criminals, how the hell did they get to run the system, do they just sit there and say ok any domain being transferred close to its renewal gets cancelled, then at least we get a years renewal before its gone.

I love the net but I hate this domain name circus, these guys have no scrupals, morals or any other kind of decent human quality, I mean how can you have a "Transfer rejected by losing registrar" thats like me wanting to change vehicle insureres because my current insurer is expensive and not being allowed to by that insurer, by any other term thats being held to randsome, and thats illegal.

The quicker this bunch of muppetts gets on the scrap heap the better.

PS. I`m trying to find terms and conditions at NetSol, anyone know where they are? cheers.

Either you or your new registrar or both need to contact NetSol and get the exact reason that the transfer was cancelled.

This is normal.

This happens all the time with NetSol transfers, and is the standard reply when a domain transfer fails.

NetSol will tell you exactly why they rejected the transfer, and then you correct this problem and try the transfer again.

Most of the time they will answer that the admin contact denied the transfer. This is sometimes true - but more often it's because the admin contact never received notification that there was a transfer in process - or did not reply to the confirmation email exactly right.

They will tell you though, and then you start over.

As I've said, it's not unusual for these to fail 3-4 times before finally going through. I've seen some fail many more times as well... And, I've seen many go through immediately without any issues at all :).

Good luck. The gaining registrar should also be helping you here - so don't let them off the hook.
