How does one go about connecting a domain,which you own,to a phpbb forum without having to go through the rigmarole of paying to get it done? I am from New Zealand,yet my website is hosted on a server in America. I don't like being told that I need to either have a credit card or access to cheques (checks).

I don't understand if you mean you want your Domain Name to point to the forum,
or you have it hosted and need to setup your DNS with your registrar?

If it's the first, you should be able to go to wherever you have a domain from, and forward it to your phpbb's url. I'm assuming it's being hosted from an I.P right now?

If it
s the second, there should be instructions in your hosting email about the Nameservers for your domain, take these and go to your registrar, then click on 'Change or Add Nameservers' and then fill in these urls...

I'm not sure why you'd have to pay to change that, or why it's a problem that your site is hosted in the US while you're in NZ...

If you are using cpanel... you can do it easily...
all you have to do is :
1) Add the new domain to your cpanel through addon domain
2) Login to FTP, and you will see the domain directory which you have just added >> Install phpbb in that dir...
3) When you complete the installation then change the DB connect properties to your old PHPbb DB properties...
