Hi erveryone,
I'm new to this forums although I've been visiting them for quite a while and find them really informative.
I'm looking for a new host and, so far, Slabhost (http://www.slabhost.com) seems to have the best deal for my needs.
What I need is:
100Mb space (minimum)
1gb bandwith (minimum)
PHP
MySQL
Unlimeted POP3 accounts
Shell access
Domain name registration
I've also looked at Bweebhosting (http://www.bweebhosting.com), Chatcircuit (http://www.chatcircuit.com) and Dominet (http://www.dominet.com).
What are your opinons/experiences on Slabhost (or any of the other hosters)?
Cheers
Aussie Bob

Thanks for that.
Yeah, they seem pretty "newish"... hummm.. now I'm not sure about going with them.
Not that I find anything wrong with it (everyone has to start some way or the other), but it may be better to go with someone more "renowed".
I'll ke looking (there are sooooo many hosting companies...).
Cheers.

Don't let the fact that they're new put you off using their services. Like you said - "everyone has to start some way or another". You'll might get customer support in minutes and really personal attention. They might be using a fantastic server provider etc. It's the trade off that you have to make between the big established players and the smaller new comers.

Yes, the choice is almost endless. This forum is a great place for you to look and learn, IMO. Good luck. :)
I was heavily leaning toward slabhost. I'm a former AvailHosting customer and referenced a deal they were offering a day and a half ago to Avail customers. Got a reply saying that deal wasn't being offered anymore.
I also asked for references. I've never had trouble obtaining references before. When I'm happy with a Web host, I always write them and tell them to feel free to use me as a reference.
According to them, it was a privacy issue. Probably has to do with the 5/14 startup date, though. As far as I'm concerned, a business is a business. I can't go without those references. Everyone here on the boards says to do your research. Unfortunately, I had to mark them off the list. That's just me, though...
