Hello :)
Business is pretty good...
I'm wanting to go into colocation. Rackshack has given me problems consistently, and I would like to move away from them...
My question is,
Where have you had good experience for buying 1U servers? I'm looking to get a dual Athlon or possibly P3...do P4s exist?? I would also like RAID for reliability and minimum downtime in case of a Hard drive failure...
Prebuilt, or individual parts...anything is good :)
Now..colocation
Has anyone had good experience with the cheaper colocation options? Mainly COGENT/EpiK Backup..?
If so, where?
I'm looking to get colocation pretty cheap... $30-50 U $50-$150/mbs
Thanks in advance

Dual P4 does not exist (yet). You need to get P4 Xeon if you want to go dual. Go to anandtech.com for a review (mainly database performance) on how Dual P4/Xeon 2.2Ghz compares with Dual AMD Ahtlon MP 2000+ (1.66Ghz).
I have found many people recommending acmemicro.com for 1U/2U servers barebones. For Dual P4/Xeon barebones, take a look at this: http://8anet.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=833&lastcatid=189&step=4 (2U server) and this: http://8anet.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=835&lastcatid=189&step=4 (very nice 1U)
good luck ...

The rack space should be easy to find for this price. Charles with affordablecolo hits this number.
The $50 - $150.00/Meg is nuts. Unless you are looking Cogent or in huge allotments. Let us know if you find other then Cogent BW ofr $50- $150/Meg.

He did specefiy cogent best I remember. I would consider going with 2U. More space and its not going to make that much a colo fee difference. I would build the server myself but that's just me.

Actually
Mainly COGENT/EpiK Backup
I would still like to see anyones reply to other then Cogent at $50 - $150. I have never seen anyone post lower then $150.00/Meg for anything but Cogent.

I've seen a few special offers for $50/mbps..I also have someone on my ICQ list that listed a special offer, and said he could get me $50/mbps of Cogent and I believe Yipes backup ..in Colorado
Really I was just wondering if anyone actually does colo with these people....and if so, who? Good service?

How can you tell if the person really does have Yipes for backup? I will add Yipes myself in the future.

How much longer will Yipes last? Well if not I guess I will look at another carrier in the hotel.
