View Full Version : Popular panels + DNS.. and some CPanel questions

Here's the situation:

I'm looking at possibly going with one of the three major panels (Plesk.. Cpanel & Ensim.) What I need is for the CP's to be able to be managed by an external billing application (which will create accounts/etc on the cp/webserver from a shell script), as well as keep DNS OFF of the webserver, and make sure the updates get to our current DNS servers. (If we end up ever expanding to multiple hosting systems like this.. I don't want 15 servers all running DNS.. but would rather keep it centralized on our current DNS servers.

What I'm asking is:

- Is there any way to accomplish the above with any of the listed cp's?
- I've worked with Ensim/Plesk before, but know very little about cpanel & how it works with the server. Is it like plesk/ensim in that it has it's own precompiled servers it installs.. or is it just an overlay to currently-running system services? (cpanel.net isn't much of a help at all.. and I'd like some basic information on it before contacting a sales rep.)

Please ask if you need further detail..

Thanks,
Ryan
