They won't be available until June 1.
But, they're taking orders now.

I have signed up with them. They seem to be pretty good and on top of things. Matt McCormick the Customer Service Manager will be on Web Hosting Radio tonight, I highly recommend you give it a listen.

I have talked to Matt a couple of times. What is most impressive is that he was there at 9:30PM on a Friday night and then again at around 10:00pm on a Tuesday night. He seems to really have it together and manage things very well.

Who is nocster.net????

nocster is nothing more than Burst.net (www.burst.net)

do a search on this board for BURST to find out about their support.

live chat will neve work.. it's never worked in a year when they have same link and icon on their site at burst.net

they announced nocster, when.... in April? took a month to release the big surprise... now their taking preorders for standard servers and they are already an established data center? an established data center having to raise money first before rolling out the product line?

i could be wrong.. that's just what it appears from the outside.

The support over the last few months hasn't been mentioned, we tripled the size of our support staff, and are adding more for the weekends/overnight. Our response time has increased, and overall tickets are down tremendously. Our staff is working very hard to increase overall satisfaction, and have been doing a very good job of it.

Live chat does work, just hasn't been on lately, because of AIM, I have repeatedly informed people, and many have responded that I am available on AIM as BurstCSM to answer any questions, or help in anyway I can. When I have 20 people on AIM at one time, it's hard to cover another chat system, work on tickets, answer e-mails, etc.

In this case, it was the installation of the lines that took the time. We had to coordinate efforts to have another router installed with new backbone providers, ensure that we would have the OC3 live for release, and didn't know the quantity of servers that people would want initially, so by taking pre-orders, we satisfy those who want to be up and running on June 1st. The physical inventory has been here for over 3 weeks, and all pre-orders up to this point are already assembled and ready for deployment.
I'm very happy with the results of Nocster thus far. A lot of people have contacted me, and placed orders, everything is ready and on schedule, and has been a good launch. Nothing wrong IMHO with drawing some public interest, announcing a product and release date , and allowing people to order in advance? It's given a lot of people time to plan their next steps accordingly.
Well, enough out of me on this, product release is 3 days away, and we're set to go.

Thanks,

Matthew

I've literally checked the live chat link on a weekly basis for close to a year now at different times of the day and night... it's NEVER been answered. And I understand about a lot IM's at once so why even have the link on the website when it's too difficult to use it anway?

Sounds good.. I hope you do well.

But curious.. new lines? I'm assuming Burst is using cheaper providers because of offering more bandwidth on these servers? If so, will all of Burst's servers be eventually hooked up to these new lines and in turn receive more bandwidth on their server? If someone has a server at Burst with very little bandwidth and paying more money can they move to one of the new servers?

This is a tough question as it depends on your budget, your sysadmin skill and the quality of bandwidth you are looking for.

If you can spend a little extra I would suggest pwebtech.com, they have very high quality bandwidth and great support. I personally have service with them for over 7 months now and all I can say is awesome! They also offer a managed solution where they will do much of the sysadmin as part of the service, I only have the standard solution.

If you are on more of a budget and you can live with good cogent bandwidth (and I think one other b/u b/w provider) I would suggest talking to rastoma at myvirtualnet.net. I did not know they provided dedicated solutions but a friend of mine recently got a dedicated server from them. I have been monitoring it's uptime and performance and so far the uptime and connection rates have been very good. They are worth a look.

I hope this helps you out a bit but before you do anyhting you really need to answer the questions of your budget, your sysadmin skill and the quality of bandwidth you are looking for.

I didn't fully explain this one last night on WHR, BTW thanks everyone for your AIM's after the show. Nocster, starting off with Cogent 100MBPS and Qwest 55MBPS is also planned to have a 3rd backbone provider added in July 2002. Our new Cisco 12000 router will be here within a week, which we are very excited about. Burst and Nocster backbone providers are kept separate for outbound traffic. Inbound will take the fastest route over any of the 5 carriers, while outbound, will take the preferred path (BGP4) over each of their designated providers. Burst will retain Sprint (Oc3), AT&T (currently DS3, but upgraded within 4 weeks to 0C3) and UUNET (DS3), Nocster will go over Cogent/Qwest (0C3) and the later provider. Backbone providers, and phone support will differentiate Burst/Nocster, as well as a few other items.
The move from Burst to Nocster is covered in our FAQ, and we will have separate IP blocks for both. Live Chat, through both sites will now be manned daily by our VP of Marketing, Jason Brozena, and I will try to be on at night. Your right, if we have the option, it should be covered, and I will try to make sure someone is on all the time.

Thanks,

Matthew

No one can really give you a fair opinion of Nocster yet, as their services wont launch until tomorrow.

But, for only $20/mo extra Nocster offers CPanel, which at least in my opinion is the best control panel for creating and managing resellers.
