Hello all,

first post here, but I've read lots of threads so far. Most of them and you have been quite helpful (except for the person who posted about FDCservers... that came about 5 mins too late as I had already signed somewhere else ;) ).

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good co-loc host which has its data center located near Montreal or even somewhere in eastern Canada... I haven't found any, but I've been mostly looking for unmanaged/dedicated so far.

Thanks

Funny, I'm looking for the exact same thing, in Montreal or anywhere in the east coast.

Our web sites seems to sustain 1.5mpbs. So obviously bandwidth is important.

Need recommendations!

Yup, you're gonna have to pay $$ for bandwidth here in Canada.

As for montreal, peer1.net has a location there:

Montreal
1512 - 1080 Beaver Hall
Montréal, PQ H2Z 1S8
Phone: (514) 878-0080
Fax: (514) 878-0085
Email: montreal@peer1.net

peer1's pricing is auctally okay, also. :)

You could also check out q9.com. They are expensive and based in Toronto...

A friend of mine hosts in Datavaults.com they are in TO, they are good, I can attest to that.

Telus, peer1, Q9, Bell, Sprint, Worldcom and Terra-byte all have significant presence in the canadian hosting market.

Also, anything in 151 Front Street West in Toronto is awsome, its the biggest carrier hotel in Canada, bell and others run out of there.

Q9 and peer1 are my favorites. Q9 is apparently opening a data-center in montreal and about 6 other large cities as they try to gain some market share.

Overall I would highly recommend getting a dedicated in the states or ship your server over there to colo. While it's not allways the easiest, it will save you quite a buck.

Can you recommend any colo\dedicated places from 151 Front St in Toronto? Or in fact any other Toronto based host or suppliers of servers and server components?

Thanks in advance, Matt

A few days a go I was in contact with the wht user that goes by the nickname: "OneOfThem." He has space at 151 front st. and he is now putting all his dedicated servers that he offers in 151 front street. You can pm him and fashion a deal together...

Hope this helped...;)

I have been using www.it.ca @ 151 Front Street in Toronto for 3 years and am very happy with their service. I was racking my brain to remember the place in montreal that I was investigating, I forget right now unfortunately. I've also used www.gt.ca 's coloc services in toronto, and yes bandwidth/traffic is more expensive here, and they are in some sort of restructuring phase, but provide a solid service.
