View Full Version : Is it just me??
Very strange thing this morning. One of my sites www.waterwater.ca , from all accounts, seems fine. I can ping it, I can tracert, everything seems OK in my Plesk control panel, I can send/receive email, and I can see visitors (using my real time monitoring) surf the site. But I cannot access the site in my browser. I can access all my other sites, just not this one. How is this possible???
Any wisdom on this would be appreciated.
Vito
Techark 05-29-2002, 09:33 AM from here. Maybe the .ca is not registered in your browser.
Then again don't ask me for almost a month my wife's computer would open any site on the net but mine.
Never did figure out why, reloaded windows for another problem and it went away.

I was able to access it up to about 5 hours ago. Then suddenly, poof. But I do see others accessing it. I was even able to access it for a split second, then it was gone again. The browser either gives me a Timed Out, or a DNS error.
ARGGGHHHH:angry:

Techark 05-29-2002, 09:40 AM if you are using IE dump all cache and look for nay cookies that site may drop delete them also then try and address it.
Monte
Nope, Monte. I deleted all cached files, and all cookies. Same thing. Odd thing, though. After deleting cookies, I would expect to have to log in again at WHT, right? Well, it seems the WHT cookie was still there. IE problem?
The other thing is I tried to access the site in NS6, and I got in OK. So if this is a browser problem, how do I solve it? I tried resatarting, but no change. And I really do prefer using IE over NS.

21inchguns 05-29-2002, 10:30 AM dont know if this will help,
but I often have to test pages in IE and the caching often does not allow me to view the next version, so I always just throw ? in the URL and that does the trick.....it will force a new copy of the page to be sent.......
Like I said, dont know if it's relevant to your problem but give it a try.......Just put ? at the end of the url. ie www.domain.com/?
or www.domain.com/file.htm?
cheers
Techark 05-29-2002, 10:52 AM once on my wife's system by running a full diag with Norton. There is several articles at the M/S site knowledge base on simular problems. Maybe you can find the answer in one of those.
Monte
Techark 05-29-2002, 10:54 AM did you go to tools and then view files and open the temp file dir and delete them manually or did you just tell IE to clear files?
Do it by hand, only way to dump them all.
Monte
Well, I'm completely bewildered (not to mention really ticked off  ) with this. I even went to the trouble of re-installing IE6. Same problem.
Why can I ping and access any other site on the Internet except for www.waterwater.ca ????
trenzterra 05-29-2002, 09:38 PM Sometime it's your ISP's fault. Try accessing the site via IP.
Yes, I tried by IP. No luck. I don't think it's my ISP. Besides, if it was, how would that explain the fact that I can access the site in NS6 but not IE6?
Ready to give up...
Chang Lee 05-30-2002, 07:14 AM Well... you're tried it all... you've thought about it all too!
So try this... you have nothing much to lose anyways!
Bonk your PC hard once or twice. I do this and it immediately behaves. My PC likes to irritate me once in a while by acting smart with me, you see! One of two hard bonks and it learns not to act funny with me anymore for a week or two!
Hope this helps if nothing else does!
