Is it possible top trace back a host to see which site uses which host? I know you can use traceroute and then see which connection a site uses and sometimes which DNS service they use. But I never see (I use VisualRoute) which hosting company is used with name and link. Is this possible?

use dig

check the nameservers.......with something like dnsreport.com
that will generally give you some info to work from.......

look up the IP address of the server with ARIN, www.arin.net

try netcraft, "what is that site running" gives os details and datacentre/host
www.netcraft.com

Or domainwhitepages.com -- very useful for that sort of lookup.

I use smart who is.
There are free sites that offer a limited usage.
