View Full Version : Need help finding a quality windows reseller host
DWS2006 06-10-2006, 06:24 PM I am looking for a quality windows host that offers the helm control panel.
There are lots of great linux/cpanel reseller hosts, jaguarpc, hostforweb, hostgator, etc.
But does anyone have experience with a high quality windows host that offers fast servers, the helm control panel and that has been around for a fairly long time (basically with a similar reputation as the cpanel hosts mentioned above).
Thanks!
Lubby 06-10-2006, 06:49 PM I just did a bit of research and there don't seem to be a lot of Helm Hosts around WHT, or at least not many reviews on them. I saw a review of resellerguru.com that was positive. Other then that I would suggest doing a google search, finding a list of Helm hosts that offer what you want then try researching those hosts through WHT and google.
cs2008 06-10-2006, 07:40 PM Hi,
There is quite a few Helm hosts, who offer Helm hosting.
A few questions:
How many domains are you wanting to host?
Diskspace?
Bandwidth?
Also which datacentre - UK / US?
Best Regards,
Fabphosting 06-11-2006, 02:48 AM try exabytes.com t hey offer huge storage

Exabytes are good .. Highly recommended :)
premium20 06-11-2006, 03:22 AM Yes, there are quite a few Helm hosts out here:
Liquidsix
Cyberhostpro
Hostingfest
A clarificationI am not hosted with them, so I am not recommending them. Please do a search for the reviews on these hosts before deciding.
besty 06-11-2006, 05:57 AM finding host with helm is really a little bit difficult only..... check with the reviews before signing up
Fabphosting 06-11-2006, 06:24 AM i agree to besty its more harder because the licensing is expensive but hosting price is the same as in cpanel...

Hopefully only those with experience with such hosts will reply from here on in ;)

I have a reseller account with www.openhosting.co.uk
They have been around for quite some time (2001-2002 i think?) provide helm support... i haven't had any problems with them.
I live in the UK (in case you can't tell) so it's nice to have a host I can ring up - don't know if that will be the case for you though :)
DWS2006 06-11-2006, 02:43 PM I guess I should have specified in the US. I am having a hard time finding a good size reputable helm host. I am thinking of looking for a linux reseller with plesk
protecweb 06-11-2006, 02:55 PM Theres quite a few good Win reseller/Helm hosts in the UK.
I am not too sure about US ones but if you browse the forums at http://forums.webhostautomation.com you may well find a US one that uses Helm.
mripguru 06-11-2006, 04:39 PM Just a question, why are you looking specifically at Helm?

Helm, or Plesk both would have the functionality that I was looking for.
#1). I a specifically looking for the ability to setup accounts that can conbine multiple domains together. Cpanel really can only offer add-on domains, Helm and Plesk can offer complete panels for each domain in a single users account.
#2). Both feature better easier to use built in mailing list features than cpanel. (most of these accounts would be setup for real estate agents--who often use email to contact past clients, etc). I believe both support being able to turn lists on and off also.
Plesk is available on linux which would be great, but it seems like there are very few hosts that offer plesk reseller accounts--I have looked for that previously, and was told that plesk requires an additional expansion package to offer reseller accounts and that is the reason why it is not very popular with hosts offering reseller accounts.
either one would work fine for me though. Any and all sugestions are welcome.
Thanks

I am not sure who told you that but they are incorrect.
Plesk is "reseller ready" from the get-go and requires no extra packages or configuration changes.

Agreed it is reseller ready, its just not as easy as HELM to set them up. I just tried Plesk 8 on one of my linux servers and i didn't like it at all and just installed Cpanel on it. Cpanel seems better than plesk for linux, but for windows Nothing beats HELM :)

cPanel and Plesk have the same number of steps to create a reseller:
1) Create packages (and feature lists if applicable)
2) Create reseller user
That's it.
Having personally written HELM off quite some time ago as a shoddy piece of software I can't speak for HELM but I would assume that the same simple process applies, much as it does with H-Sphere and Ensim also. We bug and feature test HELM (and all other panels) every four months and it really seems to get worse unfortunately. Again though this is not me testing so I can't speak on the creation process.
The user/reseller creation process is pretty much standard across all control panels.
As for HELM being unbeatable on Windows, I disagree. For a single-OS control panel on Windows I wouldn't be inclined to look further than Plesk. If I were so inclined, I would go with Ensim. For a dual platform solution there's only one panel to look for, in my opinion: H-Sphere.

anon-e-mouse 06-12-2006, 04:25 AM If you want to argue the best control panels for certain things, I suggest you pop over to the control panel forum and hash it out. The thread starter is looking for hosting recommendations, not control panel recommendations ;)
