I apologize I got tired after searching for the right terms to use on Google after about an hour.

Is there a product out there open source or other that has blogging and forum capabilities in one - kind of like taking phpBB and wordpress and making one product out of it.

bbPress (http://bbpress.org) or Drupal (http://drupal.org) are a couple of options that come to mind.
