Hello everyone,

The thread about longer domain inspired me to ask somewhat similar question.

May longer domain names be initially valuable if they contain some popular keywords? Or it still depends on their development?

Thanks,

Well, think for yourself... 64-char long, keyword-rich domain name is still 64-char long and nobody will remember it, anyway. :)

I agree to that, but it's an extreme case. I mean a logical slogal - like name consisting of 3-4 words.

Content is king.

Content is king, like Stu said, but hypothetically, if you manage to hit on some future slogan that some big company wants to run with, then sure.

But that's one hell of a speculation.

1 word is ideal I think, 2 is also perfectly acceptable... and recently I was considering using 3 words for a domain for the first time, something I never thought I'd do to be honest. Not sure if I will bite the bullet and get that 3 word domain (15 letters) but all the words are good keywords and the domain looks good when you see it together - it's just using popular words so I can't get them in a 1 or 2 word combo.

However as to the inital question are longer domains valuable from the start? hmm... I'd say no, not unless it's a new upcoming area that hasn't been mined yet and even then you're better off getting the shorter ones first. Even if the keywords are rich I would say 3 words is pushing it unless it's a great sentance, phrase or slogan.
