Dear friends!

There is a guy who is selling a ".CN" domain. When I checked in Overture Inventory for its exact keyword, it has been searched 2500000+ times in April, 2006.

I read an article on eNom. Bellow is its brief: -

"By 2004, China is predicted to account for more than a quarter of the world's total online population. In terms of business activity, e-commerce is expected to serve as an important engine of growth for development across the region, with revenues reaching nearly $600 billion in 2005, a compound annual growth rate of more than 101 percent from 2000, and including growth figures for both the B2B and B2C segments."

I need your help because I am unable to decide how much should I pay this guy for the domain name. The guy is asking hefty amount for the domain.

Please guide me! I'll be thankful for your help.

Thanks for your time!

The first question is what do you intend to do with the domain? Park it? Hold as an "investment"? Develop an English or Chinese content site? Price is largely based on your income projections.

Can you get any info on the site's current traffic levels? Either from alexa.com or ask the seller for log screenshots?

Is this booming Chinese market searching in English or Chinese? On my sites I get a lot of Asian traffic from countries like India & Pakistan with English speaking populations but hardly anything from China. Will your ad networks credit you for Chinese clicks?

As far as I am sure, there is no current traffic on that domain. I checked its whois record. It has been registered 13 or 14 days ago. I wanted to park it on sedo after buying it from that guy.

I am just confused if the domain worths $XXX or $XXXXX. Please guide me! It will be very helpful for me.

Thanks!

It's only been registered 2 weeks, it's been searched 2.5 million times in one month? Unless it is something pretty remarkable it sounds like someone was using a bot to increase the search figures. Just mho.

Depends on your intended audience too. While I haven't myself I know of people and organizatinos that have blocked .cn sites (and occasionally .cn entirely) for reasons ranging from "hack attack histories" to human rights issues.

I was confused also the first time I read it, but it is the 'search term' that has been searched 2.5 million times not the domain.

Example: "cars" has been searched 2.5 millions times not "cars.cn".

Hmm, I would have (and did) assumed the "exact keyword" for any domain would be the domain name itself.

1. I wouldn't buy any .cn name
2. I wouldn't pay much over regfee for any 14 day old domain
