Anyone have any experience with these swine?
Their servers are always down and tech support is a joke. I'm currently trying to get my damn domains off them, as i'm quite new to web hosting and didn't register my domains personally.
I strongly suspect this company is just one guy with a sock puppet called frank as his support staff.
Just to make things worse, they started doing port scans of computers at my workplace yesterday, so who knows what they're up to now?
Oh yeah - the price seemed too good to be true, and it was.

So regarding your domains, do you have access to update the DNS info? If you bought the domains as part of a "package", then you might find that they really own the domains. This unfortunately happens quite a bit.
There was a site that a bunch of webhosts from around these parts built called http://lostdomain.com , where you can get information to get back control of your domains from these folks.
Good luck in getting back control of your domains and in finding a new host. :)
edit - I just realised that lostdomain.com is not finished being built yet.

Unfortunately SWHU own the domains and i don't have access to the DNS setup. As a last resort i could go to eNom and start a dispute as that's where they are registered. I'm currently still waiting for a reply to the many emails i've sent them.
Thanks for the info, i'll keep an eye on that site.

I caught their support "department" on icq a minute ago. here is the conversation:
Session Start (ICQ - 130842873:support): Tue May 28 21:08:36 2002
metalmutant: hi... we had a conversation a while back and you said i could have my domains back after 60 days. the 60 days are up, so can i have them back now?
support: which domain names are those?
metalmutant: crypticsounds.com and dart-sensors.com
support: okay. you want to cancel with swhu?
metalmutant: yes please
support: okay, and you wanted a refund?
metalmutant: no, just the domains
support: okay if you go to another hosting company just tell them that you want to transfer those names.
metalmutant: i want the domains transferred to my account at eNom, as i want more control over them.. is that possible?
support: yes. just send us an email to info@swhu.com
metalmutant: i have done, many times
support: i know just do it one more time.
metalmutant: ok.
metalmutant: there, done
support: k
metalmutant: could you tell me when they are going to be transferred?
support: no
metalmutant: why not?
support: you will see that yourself.
metalmutant: what does that mean?
support: that you will see when the transfer has been made.
*** support signed off at Tue May 28 21:22:21 2002.
Session Close (support): Tue May 28 21:22:38 2002
(they signed off immediately after that last comment)
Somehow i don't think i'm going to see those domains any time soon.
I emailed a load of addresses i got from checking out the port scans they'd been doing on my work machine, and found out that they're renting server space from netholding.nl. The guy from there told me that they really can't stand the SWHU guy as they get tons of complaint emails going to them instead.
I'm one step short of visiting SWHU personally with a baseball bat.

I don't think the baseball bat will help your situation any.
Send a registered letter to enom with your letterhead explaining the situation to them. I am sure they will work with you. Is a matter of fact I know they will. Some friends of mine had the same problem with a domain name registered through NetworkSolutions and I know if they will work with you on a matter like this Enom will.

Blimey, is that how they respond to there clients? (well, ex client now) Ed King, your chances of getting your domains are slim, to say the least.

I just got them back!!
I threatened them with legal action. Hell, a month ago i threatened to report them for scamming. What i didn't tell them is that i already reported them to the IFCC or whatever its called (the FBI online fraud guys). I hope they have fun!
To everyone who responded: thanks for all the help. I think i'm going to take my domain to affordablehost.com.
