Ok, I took awhile to make this post, but right now I am writting this paper for my Soc class and I am trying to write it, but I just keep getting distracted. Anyways Ill just wake up at 11am and finish it, haha, I love college. Anyhoot, I am one of the last people to become a fanatic about something. Generally I hate any type of fanatics, especially religous ones(By the way, incase I am using the word fanatic wrong, by using it I mean someone who overly belives in someting I think is BS).

Mike Moore wrote two popular books and one great movie. Book one was: Random Threats from an unarmed American(I sometimes miswrite that title, so bare with me) His newest book, which almost was not published was called Stupid White Men, focusing on GW and Gore. His movie, The Big One, which is a video of his book tour. Moore lives in Flint, MI(Where I go to school). He got laid off and wrote a book. His book is simply about this. Companies that make millions or even billions of dollars in profit(thats money money you end up with after you pay off all of your costs :) ) yet continues to close down plants in the US to save money and hire more or less slave labors for 50 cents an hour. This might seem like nothing new, but the way he presents it, really will change you. In his book, he shows a picture of the Federal building bomed in Oaklahoma and and a shutdown factory, and asks what is terrorism and how is it different from closing down factories. He has a good point.

I ask all of you to go rent his movie, The Big One, it is VERY funny. He starts it off as showing checks he sent to politiions. One was to Clinton from the Dope Growers of America. Another one(I forgot who it was sent too) from the Pedifiles for XXXX(XXXX being the persons name). He also sent two others out, from various groups. All were cashed. He also walkes into the offices for these companies with 80 cent checks to help pay for the first hour of the new labor the company will be using. His focus is American Companies Screwing over the American people not to make a profit, but to make a bigger one. Anyway, watch the video, and take a look at what is happening, its not good.

And you really can't discuss Michael Moore and leave out the two TV series, "TV Nation" and "The Awful Truth".

Books: it was better known as "Downsize This!" -- "Random Threats from an Unarmed American" was the subtitle. And there's also "Adventures in a TV Nation."

Didn't you do your research before writing this paper? :)

Acually I did, I had heard of most of those, I did forget, I will admit it. My teacher went on about him for about 30 minutes, and coverd that, but it was about three weeks ago, so I did forget some of it. And yes, I did mention I would screw up the title.

I enjoyed Moore's book, but he has recieved some criticism: <http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20020520&s=romano> Don't dismiss it as a rightest conspiricy, The Nation is on the left, this article provides honest and valid criticism.

A fun resource is Michael's website: <http://www.michaelmoore.com/> Visit the community/forum for more fun.

This may date me but no discussion of Mr. Moore can be complete without mentioning;

- Flint Voice (His first Newspaper)
- Michigan Voice (Expansion)
Harry Chapin used to come to the Whiting Autorium (sp) and do a benefit once a year. During a snow storm one year hey played the show just him and his guitar because the band couldn't get there. Great concert.

As a previous subscriber I got tickets to the world premier of Roger and Me.

O yeah, and Rivethead (Ben Hamper )

Roger & Me has become one of my all-time favorites.
I was a little disappointed, though, to learn that, in editing the movie, he moved events around a bit to make the movie better. I'm still not sure which events, though.

"The Big One" was a great flick. I especially liked his interview with the CEO of Nike. What a snake that guy is.

As an aside, he was never laid off from GM. Most of his family was, though.
