View Full Version : StarTrek or StarWars
dektong 05-28-2002, 01:58 AM one of my friends get me intriqued on these.
Poll only for those who like at least one of these (personally, I don't really like any of them actually)....
Which one do you like the best (hence, can't choose two), StarWars or StarTrek. If you want to tell why, that's also good to listen.
cheers,
SoftWareRevue 05-28-2002, 02:02 AM Can't I be like you; and not like either one? :(
dektong 05-28-2002, 02:04 AM No you can't :D The vote is only for those who like either one. So let's just sit back and see the result ... I am really curious to see the results since both sides really have a full hearted fanatics ;)
cheers,

Aussie Bob 05-28-2002, 02:09 AM Star Trek hands down for me. :)
Although I'm a tad bit worried about Enterprise  but that's what I said about TNG, DS9 and Voyager too and they turned out alright, IMO. :D
davidb 05-28-2002, 02:45 AM I never watched star wars until I saw Epsiode 1. After that I was hooked. By hooked I dont mean an all out nut, I dont go to the websites/fan clubs/or buy collectables. I just love the movies. Episode 2 was worth all the money, plus on wed im going to see it in digital. BTW, Lucus can NOT do love scenes. Thats the only real problem.

Anyway, Star Wars definitely. Star Trek is for trekkies.
richy 05-28-2002, 04:57 AM Quantum Leap ;) just to be difficult.
kwimberl 05-28-2002, 08:43 AM LOL
akashik 05-28-2002, 09:31 AM Hmm, tough poll! seriously!
After some pondering I eventually clicked Star Trek. Both are excellent but Trek just tips the scale. It's partly due to a family/friends thing. I know a few trekkers, including my fiancee and her father, and people I used to live with (one friend hired out the full season of DS9 from the video store and watched it almost contually for close to 5 days.
I own a Romulan 'Puzzle Cup' coffee mug, a com badge from the Las Vegas Hilton's 'ST - The Experience', while my finacee nabbed some of the menus from 'Quarks Bar' :)
Plus there's few movies I enjoy more than 'First Contact' Hmm, Borg. :homer:
Of course I can also sit and watch Star Wars in a full sitting as well, though my anger for Ewoks tends to dampen the mood towards the end... and Lucas owes the world an apology for 'Caravan of Courage'
Though if you ever see 'Once Were Warriors' you'll never look at Jengo Fett the same way again :D
"Darth Vader - Cook me some eggs" <-- in-joke.

Here's some trivia for you - "First Contact" was only 1 of 2 movies [from the same movie studio] that didn't have to be edited and hacked after the movie studios "focus groups" got through seeing it. It got the total thumbs up from the many focus groups that screened it before public release. The other movie was Forest Gump. First Contact is one of my favourite flicks. I've seen it many times. :D

hey, it's just what I heard on some documentary. It's probably just a recent thing that they have those special focus groups that prescreen the films before the public release. I remember the movie "Cliffhanger" with Sly Stallone when the rabbit was killed towards the end of the film. The focus groups hated that part and so the studio sent the crew back to the location and they had to reshoot that sequence. It cost them heaps, but that's the lengths they'll goto with their films etc.
And thus what I heard/read [I seem to recal it being in a Star Trek book] that was Forest Gump and First Contact were 2 of the only films that the focus groups said didn't need any adjustments before public release.
I will check through the Star Trek book just to satisfy my own curiosity. :)
First Contact was definately a good movie. However, I thought I had wasted my money on Episode 2 until the ending... the last ten minutes or so were quality.
KualoJo 05-28-2002, 11:57 AM Star Trek = Great TV
Star Wars = FANTASTIC FILMS!!
Star Wars has to win the cup final though IMO. :)

Hm ... the last ten minutes was name listings/credits with some music in the background ... What's so quality about this? :D
cheers,

dbzgod 05-28-2002, 04:46 PM As much as I love the Star Wars movies, I had to vote Star Trek. Resistance is futile!
