I get a lot of visitors from outside the U.S., but very few paying customers. I assume my payment options aren't convenient for them. I offer Visa, MC, Discover, Amex but I really don't know how people from other countries prefer to pay, or if this is even the problem.

Has anyone had success attracting paying non-U.S. customers? How do you do it?

You've got one, right here. :)

I have a question about the read-only access though, so I'll PM you.

Cheers

I am sure the paying with visa is no problem, This card is the most used card here in Europe, and I think in the rest of the world as well.
The others are unknown . But with visa you are safe.

All though we all use visa to pay in shops , Online payment is still not widely used here, at least not like in the States, but more and more are starting to use it , so hang in there.
good luck

what are you using to charge your clietns Master/Visa/Amex/Discover cards.
I mean are you merchant or using 3rd party accounts like ccnow.

I am looking for a merchant account.
If anyone knows let me know. But make sure that i m not American or Canadian resident.

Many of my customers are from outside the US, and until today I didn't even have an order form set up for them. I finally got around to adding a "country" box. I only accept Visa, Mastercard, and apparently American Express, and despite that fact that I never intended to go outside the US, I guess I am now.

So if you want to attract paying non-US customers, I would suggest making your order form into something that seems like it is US only. Then the foreigners will sign up... it worked for me. ;)

PS. Post 666! :dgrin:

As Walter says, Visa and Mastercard are the most common cc's in Europe. But, here in the Netherlands for example, only 25-35% of the people have a creditcard. Creditcards are not used often here, because we use a card from our bank with a secretcode: it's cald "pinnen".

Also, european people are afraid to pay with their creditcards via the internet. That's why all hosting providers are sending the bill via normal post :D

Yeah, just like RobbertC said... most European people are afraid of creditcard fraud.... So am I. I don't have my own cc, but I really want one!

Hello
Amazingly we get a lot of cheque payments in the post from UK and european customers.

We also take Switch and Solo (the two main UK debit cards).
We also take laser card (popular in Ireland)
