This is my review of http://vshosting.net whom I have been with for 3 years now. I first signed up in 2003 from a special they had here on the forums and have been with them ever since.
Back then the company was hyped all over the forums and everyone had nothing but praise for them (for the most part). I went with the positive reviews, signed up and found this to be quite true. Their support was top notch and they had a active forum community full of people that helped one another out.
For a while there, several servers were having some problems however the server I've been on (Falcon) has very rarely had any problems. In fact, it's been running smoothly for a long, long time now. This server is in the GNAX datacenter and I have never seen anything but quality on their end. So, excellent job by the DC as well.
Moving forward to now. The current owner of vshosting has done some terrible things with the place. There are broken links on the main page, the forums have been removed (forever? who knows) and their support is terrible. The only time I actually got a response from some one on their ticket system is when I threatened to cancel my account. Go figure, eh?
All in all the service is still stable..but god forbid you actually need any support. I have decided that while it was a good stay I will most likely be leaving vshosting for another host. They killed our community and removed a valuable resource full of guides and helpful threads. Everything the new owner has done has been for the worse. If I don't pull out now I may end up with a horror story like many others on here. RIP vshosting.net
What I'm looking for is stability, quality and support. I have been checking out hostgator and resellerzoom whom both seem to be pleasing everyone quite equally right now. However, I am open to other suggestions as well. I would really like an established host who has a good rep. I know what I want and I'm not interested in Joe Smoe 13 year old who sells 25 GB diskspace and 1 TB bandwidth for $1. I'm willing to pay for quality.
Basic specifications on what I'm looking for:
5 GB of disk space
100 GB bandwidth
*nix
Daily/weekly backups (It's ok that they're not guaranteed. It's nice to have just in case the unthinkable happens.)
Non-outsourced support. I speak english. I want some one that can also speak english and understand what I'm saying.
CPanel
Other than that, everything else is really pretty much standard (php, mysql, etc.). If you think I should list anything else please feel free to ask.
