Moved to Web Design and Content main section.

That would depend on your experience and skill level and the clients you wish to attract. There is no easy answer :)

I would go per-site rather than per-page. I mean, you could charge $100 per page, but as mentioned, it's not an easy question to answer. Depends on your skill and everything else. I charge by the site, and factor in how many pages there are into the price.

Somewhere around $10-$10,000 per page would be acceptable ;) What's an acceptable price for a car?

Haha, I wish! Ok, seriously though, think of this way, and use this as a proposal for your client. Put yourself in his shoes. He needs to ask himself how much money he expects to generate from this website. If he can make an extra $450/month in sales, then over the course of a year he's increased his revenue by $5400, so it seems reasonable enough to quote the guy for $2500-3500. I myself wouldn't charge that, but it doesn't sound like you've had a lot of experience in the industry yet, do you have a portfolio, that might help us give a better estimate.

That's assuming the site is revenue generating :)

fortalk- if you are making a living doing web design you need to weight up your overheads and how long you will spend building the site. If you spend 5 days/60 hours on it how much would you want to earn from it?

One thing that no one else mentioned is that it's tough to quote a per page cost because different pages have different levels of complexity and therefore take different amounts of time to create.

For instance, a Contact Form page will take longer to create then the Thank You page the visitor sees after completing the information.

Personally, I typically create an estimate for the initial site design and all future work is done on an hourly basis.

That's assuming the site is revenue generating :)Excellent point, I don't believe I've ever done a site that wasn't revenue generating. Or are you talking about online sales only? Because most of the sites I do, the client isn't going to make money online, it's going to be offline sales that make the money. I guess what I'm saying is I've never had to do like a "portfolio" site for someone. What's the point in putting up a site though if you don't want to make money off of it :)
