I am webmaster in a lottery company. I have two questions:

1/ We are looking for a good European based shopping cart software. We currently use 1shoppingcart.com which is pretty good for what we want to do, but I have been asked to search for a European one. We particularly would like some mailing features (auto-responders, broadcasting) in addition of the proper selling and secured process.

2/ Do you know if it is better to have a European shopping cart when you want to sell products in Europe or if it doesn’t matter?
We just wonder if ethically you should use a European one, because you sell product in Europe and because you represent a European company.


So far, I have noticed in my research that 90% of the online shopping cart software are based in US. The others are most of the time based in UK.

If someone is aware of this market or knows a good online software, please let me know.

Of course, if you are a patriot of using only European software, you should use only European shopping cart :-).

Saying seriously, I have no reasons to use only a Eurpean shopping cart. Choose the software based on the functionality. Also users will not be able to distinguish European shopping cart from non-European one.

Most of the developers for X-cart are in Russian which is close to Europe.

In regards to #2, it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever. Ethically, I couldn't care less where the cart was written, as long as it is secure, user-friendly, and functional.
