Hi,

I have been using hosting controller for about 6mnths now and am very happy with it. It supports many mail, ftp and stats servers.

Check it out at

<edit>see my explanation below for what I mean by ad.</edit>

NO offense, but this sounds like an ad to me.

If you want to be helpful to other people, please post some more details about your experience with it. Specifically, what is so good about it, or what is NOT good about it, etc..

it does not sound like an AD. it IS an ad. We all know hosting controller is a crap full of bugs. I'm beta testing the 2002 release and have a list of 28 bugs/strange behaviors

The best example ? hc does not encrypt password under serv-u 4. script kiddies will love this release ;o)

What do i have to gain out of 'advertising' as you put it HC. I have had my share of problems with HC but the current release is the best you will find for windows2000 control panel.

If you are beta testing the 2002 release the maybe you should get the final release. Its not perfect but its the best you will find at the price.

I am not accusing you as advertising for HC. (You better not be). I am in no position to judge that, although if you search the forum for HC you will find some reason why your post maybe suspecious to other people. I personally can see such a possbility, but this is not my point.

My point is, your post doesn't do any good to any one. There are many hosts who advertsie "best service, most reliable servers", etc, but that is usually useless to any potential client.

Similarily, your post provides no specific details on why HC is good, nor does it mention (or counter) the flaws of HC, such as its buggyness.

I am personally interested in Windows Control Panel, and I feel that you could be a great help for me if you give some more details.

Are you sure on this? Have you tried the new ensim cp for win2000 and made a comparison?

Evil, that product is pure evil.
I would not even mentiontion it by name,
It's just pure evil.
It is spawned from lowest dreges of hell.

Even this software is so evil, that even satan
himself wont offer it in the market ( rumor has it
that satan has hired MS to make a control panel
recently )

We have been using the new HC 2002 since early beta, functionality is for the most part good (buggy in places) but the dire problem seems to be with the security.

Our NT admin insists apon locking the Win2k boxes up tighter than drums (and rightly so), but this does break a certain amount of functionality due to the slightly flawed way HC has been designed.

At time of writing we've reached a decent compromise after a while of fiddling, but we are now totally convinced that writing your own based on your own requirements is the way to go.

I totally agree, this software is a pathetic example of programming. My 6 year old nephew could program a better control panel for Windows 2000 with better grammar even. This software has way too many holes and bugs to make it a proper control panel. Plus the GUI is totally NON user friendly and looks like it was put toghter in a few minutes. I wouldn't touch it with a 20ft pole. Go with Ensim or HSphere, they're far more cost efficient in the long run with way better features.

Just my 0.02c.

Regards,
Asher.
