Can anyone please advise how long it takes a .ws domain to become available for purchase again after it has expired? Does this differ from registrar to registrar or is it a fixed time governed by the .ws domain governing organization?

Any advice would be appreciated,

Regards,

Jeff

I don't own any .ws domains, so I can't really comment on the questions you've asked. However, I think it's all described in registrar's legal papers. Why you wouldn't read them yourself and perhaps come back here with the answer, for everybody to see and be aware of?

Thank you.

The info does not seem to be as readily available as you suggest. Of the registrars I have dealt with and from memory, only Mydomain.com ever gave a timeline for the progress of expired domains. It's certainly not in the TOS or associated documents.

I just visited registerfly (the first that came to mind) and found the following in their ToS:

20. Additional Registry Requirements

Listed below are additional contractual requirements that you, the registrant, must agree to should you desire to register a domain name in these registries.

1. (.NU) In addition to the terms set forth above, the following terms shall apply to registrants of .tv, .cc, .bz, .nu and .ws domain names. Your registration of a domain name in the .TV, .CC, .BZ, .NU or .WS top-level domain ("New TLD Domain Name"), is subject to policies established or revised from time to time by the registry for such New TLD Domain Name ("New TLD Registry"), in its capacity as the registry for its respective Top Level Domain. Each respective New TLD Registry's current policies ("New TLD Registry Policies") are available for you to review at each New TLD's respective website. You agree to be bound by and comply with the applicable New TLD Registry Policies, including amendments and modifications thereto, with respect to your New TLD Domain Name registration. Such policies shall not alter the terms and conditions of this Agreement. To the extent there is a conflict between the New TLD Registry policies and the terms of this Agreement, the terms of this Service Agreement shall prevail. You agree that the New TLD Registry has the right to enforce the New TLD Registry Policies.

I think you must consult your lawyer for the exact interpretations, because I am lost...

Sounds like the expiry times, if they are in fact covered at all, would be in the TLD Registry for the .ws domain. I will have a look there.

From .ws support:
When an affiliate requests the cancellation of a domain, after the
domain expires it will be available within 24 to 48 hours.
