I register my domain for 10 years with NSI.
If I transfer my domain to some retailer of OPENSRS such as ipower.com,
How to count the expire date ? It's cumulative ?

ipower.com offer $2.95 for the first year. At this point, if I have 11 years to expire. Do I get a charge $8.25 in year 2007 ?

Thank for advance.

Can't go more than 10 years. If it has 10 years and you transfer it, no time will be added. Renewal cost later on will depend on the cost at that time.

No. Because it will expire only in 2012. BTW, search these forums for some horror stories about ipower.

It is cumulative, so as Stan said, there will be no further charge until 2012 because that would be when it expires.

In above case...I can imagin some idea.

If we register a domain with a cheapest cost such as $1.99 x 8 years, and then transfer to a very good registra such as openSRS $9 x 1 years.

Well, We can use a good openSRS for 9 years with a cheapest cost... wow!

taotoon, I am using this 'method' all the time. However, your example is quite wrong, i.e. you plan to transfer to ipower; which isn't among the better ones (to say the least)... Heck, it even isn't true registrar!!!
