I simply detest HP products, back experience a few years ago have created a pure hate for them.

(As you can see the date on the article is May 3rd) It especially isn't news since the whole fight between those who wanted the merger and those who didn't (led by the Hewlett family) was waged in the business media for weeks. The original vote in favor of a merger by Compaq shareholders was in March; the merger became front-page news in late April with allegations of vote buying by the pro-merger side.

Reminds me of Xircom (http://www.xircom.com/). They used to make some of the best laptop PCMCIA network cards around. Now, they are owned by Intel. Ugh!!! Personally, I don't like Intel but that's just me... :(

Actually, a few years back Compaq bought Digital...now, several years later HP is buying Compaq.

I believe "the new HP" is keeping the Compaq brand name for some products such as desktop PC's since they are better known in that area. But for things like printers, HP will be ditching the compaq name.
