Ok, here is your challenge...should you choose to accept it. I need a web host for the company I work for, but we've very specific needs. I've looked all over and seem to be running out of options. Here is what we need:
5+GB of space
10+GB of transfer
5+ domains under one account
50+ ftp accounts, able to be tied to any one of the domains
100+ e-mail accounts under SmarterMail by SmarterTools

Bluehost.com looked good, but they don't use SmarterMail and all the ftp accounts have to go to your "main" domain name. You can't assign them to different domains.

I then checked out Parcom Internet services, but I'm not sure if they allow the ftp access I need.

Can anyone suggest a good host for this? We'd like to try to keep the cost under $25 a month after everything. Thanks!

A reseller hosting account should be able to meet all your needs except SmarterMail.

SmarterMail requires Windows, so perhaps focus your search down to Windows based reseller accounts.

If you can not find a solution with SmarterMail, then perhaps look into a Windows VPS that will allow you to install your own software. (Your VPS and licensing costs for SmarterMail will definently exceed your budget).

If SmarterMail is not an exact requirement (but you just need some sort of Webmail interface).. A basic cPanel/WHM Reseller account usually comes with Horde, SquirrelMail, and NeoMail all of which do the job well.

Got it. So a Windows based reseller account. I'll start looking. Does it matter if we own all the domains? I'm not really reselling them to anyone on the outside.

The above link would be a great place to start...Clicking through a few of the companies listed there, I already found some solutions that would work for you.

Reseller hosting doesn't mean you need to own the domains. Basically, you are allocated X amount of Diskspace and Bandwidth. You are allowed to resell your allocated resources to others.

You pay the host for the resources, then you split them up and resell them anyway that you like.

Generally speaking, you will have some sort of Reseller Control Panel where you can create new accounts for the domains you will host. Again, generally speaking... Your client/domain holder will get a username and password to access his/her control panel.

Just a reminder that hosts are not allowed to suggest their own services outside the advertising forums. Members can recommend hosts that they have experience with. :)

Thread moved to Reseller Hosting Forum.

Keeping SmarterMail is important because that is what the company has been using for years and I'd really like to make the transition as smooth as possible for them.
