Here's a horror story for everyone to read.

During the month of March, I cancelled my dedicated server hosting with kikko networks for OBVIOUS reasons(Just do a search on this board). In short, i experienced approximately one full week of downtime. I was told by a Kikko employee that I would receive a FULL refund for the month of march because of the downtime.

April 7th, I contacted customer service again and asked them where my refund was. They appologised and promised me it would be fulfilled ASAP.

April 10th, I noticed on my online credit card statement, that Kikko had, get this, billed me AGAIN (AFTER my account was cancelled). Immediately, I contacted them and they again appologised and told me it was a billing error and they would give me a refund for the two months of extra billing.

April 19th, I receive yet ANOTHER charge on my credit card from Kikko, yes, the second one in the month of April, immediately I contacted support again and they appolgised and swore they would send out the money. Realizing kikko was using Ubersmith (The billing software) I logged into my account and deleted my user info and billing info (I suppose they didnt do this when I cancelled my account)

--KIKKO TURNS INTO RACKVILLAGE.COM

Again I go to customer support, probably two-three weeks ago, and speak with Isaac, he is appears to be extremely helpful, (Teclet - on their live help box), he tells me that they are sorry for any inconveniences, and they would send out a full refund asap. On top of that, they were going to give me a free server that I didnt have to pay for until I made a profit, I agreed. Isaac and I agree on the following.

1. I wont have to pay until I am profitable.
2. He will install Plesk
3. He will have WWW up and working

So within the hour, I receive an IP address and root login and pw. I attempt to visit the IP address, WWW not working, Plesk, not installed.

I tried for two days to reach RackVillage on live help, but they werent online at the time(s) in which i tried to reach them, and let me tell you, i tried multiple times... On the second day, I used the email form that comes up on livehelp when they are away. I explained the problem and sent it off.

About 36 hours later(4-5 days since i recieved the IP address) I finally got (teclet) on live help again, and asked if they had received the email i had sent a day or two prior... He responded with 'No.' I re-explained the problem, how plesk was not installed, WWW wasnt working, etc. His response was "Okay, hold on one moment." So i sat at my PC waiting for him to come back on live help, time went by, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes, an hour, at which point i thought we MAY have been disconnected, so i attempted to reconnect live helper said they were there, but I guess Teclet (isaac) didnt accept the invitation to give support. This enfuriated me leaving me there for so much time, what bad support.

Within 12 hours I was back on live help again talking with Teclet, magically, he had forgotten everything, and i had to yet again RE-EXPLAIN my WHOLE situation.

He responds with something like, certainly, were sorry for the inconvenience, billing is taking care of your refund, and ill setup WWW and Plesk on your server... Then i get the hold on again, so i wait for 10 minutes and he comes back and says that he needs to charge me $60 to install plesk, something that was "free" before. I agreed, and asked them to deduct the $60 from my refund. Teclet agreed also.

I inquired when I would recieve the plesk info, and I was told "a couple hours"

I thanked him kindly, and went on my merry way. Guess what, 24 hours goes by, nothing, 36 hours after I was told "A COUPLE HOURS" I went back and simply told them to send me my FULL refund and cancel the stupid server deal as I did not want to waste my time with such an incompetant company.

Well its been about a week since then, and still no refund.

Think twice before doing business with this company as I will be EXTRA careful to watch out for their little schemes elsewhere.

I will keep you posted on the situation's process as the info becomes available to me.

Rough trot there. It's bit much when they keep hitting your credit card like that. But I am surprised that you agreed to your deal with them, given their performance etc.
Well its been about a week since then, and still no refund.
Time to call the credit card company and get your money back the hard way.

Good luck. And if you're still in the market for a dedicated server, I suggest having a look at pwebtech.com. They're always making offers in the ad forum, so you can check them out there. I have a box through them and pretty much smooth sailing so far.

No affiliation with pwebtech.com. :)

Actually, I moved to TriServers.com

Their site isnt up yet, but these guys will be big.

So far I have experienced awesome support, and near 100% uptime, actually, i cant account for any downtime, but im just leaving room for personal error.

Speed is good too, cogent band I think, but I really have nothing against it.

<EDIT>
The reason I accepted the free server is because it really wouldnt hurt me, and it was right after the changeover to RackVillage, so I figured, maybe they are ditching their old name and going to make their business legitimate, but from my experience, i can suggest they didnt.

UPDATE ON SITUATION:

Here is a recent conversation between me and a RackVillage rep.
This conversation took place 48 hours after I sent an email to every address on their contact page.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Teclet'
you: Teclet, This is Matt again, I was disconnected before and didnt hear your response about the refund.
Teclet: i know they sent it out about 10 days ago
Teclet: by reg mail
Teclet: the amount was 540$ right?
you: Im in Connecticut and I dont think it takes 10 days to be sent out.
you: $600
you: especially from New York
you: the amount was $540 because I agreed to have you install Plesk for me and you told me it would take a "COUPLE HOURS" and it took days and still no word on that, so i cancelled the request.
Teclet: hey again i know that it has been sent out, so far we didnt recive return mail, lets do this if u wont recive it by friday contact us we will cancell that check and send u another one by fedex over night
you: Sounds fair, thank you for your help.

Problem still not resolved.

After talking with Dan, their head admin, and quite possibly the owner of RackVillage/Kikko, I was pretty excited about receiving my $600 refund shortly.

I talked with him on thursday after my check still hadnt come in that day, and requested the check be cancelled an a new one sent out.

At any rate, Dan appologises and tells me that my refund check would be sent out via OVERNIGHT mail, and that was 3 days ago.

Where is it Dan? How many months will it take? Is it impossible for you guys to do legitimate business?

Please remember, don't trust K I K K O or rackvillage.com, both are same company and K I K K O has a lot of bad list.

I also have very bad experience with this company. I have order one dedicated server and wait for 2 weeks, the server not ready yet, then, request for refund cost USD 400.00 and them agree on Feb.

Now, June already, i still can not get my refund, i have contact them a lot of times and them also have promise to refund a lot of time, but them will never kept promise.

My strong advise, don't trust this company, very bad company.

You should contact your credit card company immediately, because you only have a certain amount of time before it will be harder for them to help you. The initial rule, is once they claimed to make a refund, they have 30 days to honor it, and if they don’t you have the right to get it back through your credit card company.

The same situation happened to me in April. After 30 days of “Sorry, we are sending it again”, I contacted my bank and credit card company for help. They take these things seriously and they will help you get your money back. When I reported it to my cc companies, the bad business had still said “Wait 5-10 more days”, but why should I keep waiting?

I wouldn’t wait any longer. Please contact your companies now, you’ve already waited to long. And getting a charge back in this sitution isn’t the hard way, it is actually the easiest way. Especially when you are dealing with companies that do not do what they say they will, even if they are honest mistakes.

Goodluck!

You are so lucky, you still can get back your money.

My Credit card company asked me to deal with that merchant (kikko), their can not do anything.

That's why i have contact kikko a lot of times and hold for so long time.

Thanks for your concern and suggestion.

i get sick when i hear this names ... DAN and ISAAC of k i k k o.

one from my country get a windows box from them .. cost him $600. the rest of story is known ..

but i really hate this policiy .... they told you we sent refund to keep you calm ... and waste time more and more .. and if you really bugged them ( no way to be polit ) they refund you once $100 .... once $150 ....

my friend can refund $450 out of $600 after 3 months of first cancellation request!

i have no doubt .. this is their only way to make profit ... i hate this ppl so much ..

i can belive some one run shared hosting biz in part time ... but dedicated provider should be serious.

Note that you can type Kikko no spaces as it isn't censored anymore. Of course defeating the censor is frowned upon, however since so many were doing it, it was pointless and it served its purpose at the time.

Remember: kikko not k i k k o :D
