View Full Version : That machine is a killer!!!
Aussie Bob 05-26-2002, 07:11 AM The Total Gym 1000, that is. I have one in my downtown office and I've been using it for a week now. I am in total agony. What a great workout!!! :D
I do not work for Total Gym 1000. I have no affiliation with them. I just punish myself on the machine :)
NetXL 05-26-2002, 07:33 AM Exercise?
I've got one of those aerofit things that sellout space guy is in the ads of. :D
Used it.. once?
Abu Mami 05-26-2002, 07:43 AM What? Me sweat?
Website Rob 05-26-2002, 08:11 AM How does it compare to a BoFlex?
According to the commercial, BoFlex is the only Workout machine a person needs. ;)

I am a real sucker for them infomercials. I even hear the yanks have 24hr infomercial stations. We get them on around 2am and I'm usually still working [from home] then, so I keep seeing these things that I've just got to have. :buck:
But all and all, the Total Gym is a knockout machine. "Back to you Chuck" :D

Yes, be sure to even out the load over both arms and do some warm up excercises before hand. Don't want you hurting yourself. :D

akashik 05-26-2002, 05:14 PM funny you should mention excercise. I was just moaning to someone a few days ago I need to go out and buy a mountain bike before I expand any further to the sides. Might go shopping next weekend. If nothing else the fresh air might loosen some of the tar in my lungs :D

 I have the Total Gym 1000 about 2 meters to right of me in the office and I jump on it every 30 minutes or so for a quick 5 minute program. It's good to relieve the tension too. :D
Seriously though, we should keep in shape as working 16hr days on the puter aint condusive to a healthy lifestyle and longevity. :)

I hate BoFlex commercials - they show them all the time on ESPN and are way too um..."homoerotic" for my tastes.
viGeek 05-27-2002, 12:00 AM I agree the TOTAL GYM system works EXCELLENT. However i didnt fall for its over pricedness. I went out and paid $99 at modells sporting goods for the 'Wieder Total Body Works. Which is exactly the same, if not better in build quality.
and man in the past two months, i have kept up with a steady 3 days a week 1 hour work out. Ive noticed excellent size increases, and gained 10LB of muscle mass. These machines, as stated above will put you in agoney, they work muscles you never knew you had!

Yes, it's an unreal workout. What I like best is moving focussing on 1 group of muscles to the other in a second without having to move to a new machine etc. I've worked out in gyms for ages, but I love this machine. There's no way to really outgrow it too. Just use the highest setting and really slow down the movements and it'll give you an unreal workout. :)
Time for another 5 minute workout!! :D
Fiber 05-27-2002, 01:18 AM Speaking of exercise (some of you may not be familiar with the concept) I have been getting my share of it each day. I dance atleast 35 minutes a day, play badminton for 35 minutes as well, and then after school ranging from 45 minutes to four hours.
Egh.
akashik 05-28-2002, 11:55 AM well curse you all for starting this thread. It's been stuck in my head ever since I saw it, so today I went out and got a 21 gear mountain bike. (shimano gears, stainless rims etc etc).
At least I'll look the part till the riding burns off some of that extra baggage :)

FiberOptic 05-28-2002, 01:04 PM The only sport I practice is typing on a keyboard :)
Did you know that for each post you do over 1000 muscle moves are needed?
Now I'm tired :)
I'm gonna rest half an hour before my next post :)

MGCJerry 05-29-2002, 02:25 AM The best exercise I get is picking up my computer to move it from here to there and back from there to here :)
Gosh my computer is REALLY heavy... Ohh... Speaking of that, I should put it on the bathroom scale, and see how much it weighs....
*leaves room for a few seconds and returns with the bathroom scale*
*Climbs under desk and places computer on scale and looks at readout*
My computer weighs 31 pounds :D

Mxhub 05-29-2002, 04:52 AM That machine is a killer!!!
Sound similar to a statement make by one of the creature in movie Monster Inc .. hehe:D :D :D
richy 05-29-2002, 05:13 AM i hate resistance machines :( much prefer free weights and a decent bench. mountain bikes make for excellent exercise as does rugby and boxing. the focus in sports is moved away from exercise so you dont get bored as quickly. have fun on the mountain bike i love mine to bits its excellent fun pelting down hillsides at 40 miles an hour. i hope ya bought a helmet tho :) seriously ya only get one skull and its sooo easy to mash it on those bikes. get yourself a good book on maintenance. if its not maintained its danergous.

I hate those 'Personal Power - Tony Robbins" stuff.  Too much hype for my liking.
MadSkilage 05-29-2002, 03:14 PM i just bought a sweet mountain bike too (GT I-Drive 6.0). It's a decent entry level, dual suspension bike and is only $400 bucks on supergo.com - marked down from $700 so its a really good deal.
