View Full Version : Reseller-Center.com Mail Down?
sundial21 05-23-2006, 06:41 PM Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing mail interuption with Reseller-Center? My main e-mail is down and I suspect my clients are too...although is some sick twist of fate my phone is down too so they can't phone or e-mail me.
Reseller-Center, if you see this please respond...or anyone with any info.
Thanks.
gearworx 05-23-2006, 06:49 PM Why not ask them directly?
sundial21 05-23-2006, 06:51 PM I submitted a trouble ticket and attempted to call them both with no reply, so in desparation am wondering if this is localized to me or if others share my pain.
sundial21 05-23-2006, 07:08 PM Well, I just got through to a tech support person and let's just say it was less than helpful...here is a rough break-down of the conversation:
Sundial: Hi...I'm unable to access my e-mail and wondering if the servers are down.
Reseller Tech:We are working on the servers now.
S: Do you have an expected time of repair?
R: No, sir.
S: Is it a major issue that i should advise my customers of, or something that will be resolved reasonably soon?
R: I'm not a mail server tech sir, I don't know.
S: Well, no one replied to my trouble ticket so I am a bit concerned. So I should just sit and wait?
R: Sure sir.
So, in conclusion we know they are polite if not sadly uninformed.
Reseller-Center, I hope you at least reply to trouble tickets in the future.
Groobash 05-23-2006, 09:14 PM yep, unfortunately this is what it's come for R-C customers...we have to come here to communicate. They took down their message board after those huge outages they had months ago, and never restored them. No communication from R-C since then. None. Nada. Zilch. Except billing messages. How convenient. Maybe we're the last two people alive on R-C? :P
I'm moving my domains over the upcoming holiday weekend.
Oh ya, our email is down too. :)
sundial21 05-23-2006, 09:26 PM Yah, good times...have you picked out a new host yet?
How long it is down?
Maybe just wait a little until they solve it? They are working for it anyway.
sundial21 05-24-2006, 12:00 AM It's been about 9-10 hours...is that a usual down time when a mail server goes down? Excuse the ignorance, but I'm not sure what to expect...but I have a lot of people hurting for their e-mail.
A question: is it usually wise to have a second account somewhere else as a back-up?
Well, that is not good.
Ofcourse, it is wise to have a backup reseller account always.

I understand the motive for saying this - but, having a reliable provider is better then an unreliable one with a backup.
Having said this - and considering the state of things, maybe it is wiser to have 2, just in case - or at least until you are completely comfortable with whatever provider you are with
sundial21 05-24-2006, 02:27 AM Well, it's finally back up...so that's good news. I guess I have to make the call on to back-up or to move. A little research is required...
I know what you mean.
I didn't say he should stay in his unreliable provider then get a backup account. That is funny ofcourse.
I just answered this "is it usually wise to have a second account somewhere else as a back-up?"
Wether your provider is reliable or not, you should have backup just incase. I've been a reseller and it is effective. You never knows...

markTab 05-25-2006, 06:41 PM Thanks for posting to this forum, especially in absence of an RC forum. I think people serious about reselling come here.
:)
By the way do you know of any lost email during this outage?

sundial21 05-26-2006, 03:14 PM markTab, I don't think any e-mail was lost as I received several that were likely send during the outage and the sending sever just attempted again later. Having said though, as I think about it, I didn't get any e-mails time stamped during the outage so their claim that messages were being stored may not ahve been accurate. Hopefully there weren't too many casualties.
On that note, I am wondering if there is another limited outage. Is anyone else's webmail down? I seem to be able to receive via pop3, but the webmail server is not found.
