Actually, it's already discussed in several domain forums (including here, dnforum,
namepros, etc.). I forgot where here exactly, though.
Anytime you're using a third party search service that allows a person to register
it on the spot, you're feeding data to that service provider. Unless they have like a
privacy policy or some kind of specific agreement they won't register a name that's
looked up but not taken, they're free to do with the data as they please.
One good site a registrar's CEO confirmed is "clean" is www.iwhois.com. I use that
myself since it shows both registrar and registry data.
Another site to use if you're especially searching for a .com is the .Com Registry at
http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois . All registrars query the Registry first for
any result on a .com domain name searched on their system, but they don't share
it with other registrars.
Unless the registrar or so in question has some kind of agreement with another,
though.
So you know what to do, jagarco. You can post what I suggested here, I'm kinda
on forum overload right now.
On the side, I can't access betterwhois.com with or without the www. :D

Yes, iwhois.com is clean. If you'd like I can have the owner come on here and confirm it with you.
Note: We are not affiliated with them in any way. I personally enjoy their service and that is why I recommend them.
