View Full Version : Bliksemhosting or Site5
marc_zoom 05-23-2006, 06:29 AM Hello,
I need a reseller account fast Linux 5GB and the normal works. Need a reliable, 24/7 web host.
Seem to like Site5 and BlikSem. BlikSem double offer is very tempting...Need to know if BlikSem support is good and steady... Please recommend which one to take.
Really like Site5 reputation... though some of their servers are facing periodical issues.
Is bliksems 99.9% SLA, with 100% refund for 0.2% downtime actually effective?
layer0 05-23-2006, 06:58 AM Just judging from reputation, I'd say Bilksem is the way to go in this case. Just do a search on these forums for both companies and you'll see what I mean.
marc_zoom 05-23-2006, 07:17 AM I am looking for good 24/7 support and especially from 10pm to 10am CST ? which one can give that better ?? has anyone used bliksem ?
Welcome To WHT Marc!
The only people that can reply to you for that information are those who really use bliksem.
Since you are in a hurry, it is better to search here by using the search drop down menu while waiting.
Some example review: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=495048&highlight=bliksem
Goodluck!
marc_zoom 05-23-2006, 08:06 AM Chatted with a operator at Site5 and got their special. BlikSem doesnot seem to have an operator online...
Site5 has over 75 servers, so they say if a server is facing some downtime.. it is to be expected.
How many servers to Bliksem have ?
dhcart 05-23-2006, 09:13 AM We have two reseller accounts on Site5. The server of our first account is working fine and the uptime is %99.9. But there are many problems on the server of our second account and the uptime is under %50 and the server is working very slowly(the cpanel pages load within 5-10 minutes and the server load is very high). Most times it is down. Most functions don't work (like email). The customer service cannot fix the problems. We no reommend Site5 at this time. :( :( :(
marc_zoom 05-23-2006, 09:19 AM Guess Site5 is not in the reckoning. Bliksem - support is not established....
So need so recommendations of good linux reseller accounts - 24/7 support very important... pls recommend
webstarindia 05-23-2006, 10:40 AM Site5 reviews are not good in this forum. Some ppl also having issues with the host. Check it out on the forum before going to Site5

Thanks for the info.
- Could you tell what kind of account you hold with BlikSem - dedicated/vps/reseller ?
- Are they Anonymous/White labelled or do you have to use the server hostnames ?
- I see you are designated "WHT Addict", which means you a very knoledgeable and good at this, so consequently need lesser support. How would you rate BlikSem support for "newbie" or lets say getting there kind of user.
- Is the support 24/7 - this means night time CST time zone ?
Thanks in advance for my wierd questions.
marc_zoom 05-23-2006, 10:30 PM Site5 is out.
Bliksem : support level is not validated (all the WHmasters say good, but I'm not one) We are at GMT+7 and need to know if they can support that time zone ?
I am now also considering,
-SiteGround
-JodoHost
-ResellerZoom
.JodoHost is H-Sphere, so last resort as prefer a cPanel host.
.SiteGround offers a discount on plans for reseller, so it more like a affliate system. But the Support us 24/7 and great for newbies (check out their forums)
Please tellme about your experiences.

BlikSem says "we run weekly backups free of charge. We do not charge extra for the backups we run on our servers. These backups are stored on both a second drive as well as offsite on another server."
What do you have to say about that ? Would like your expert advise.
weder 05-24-2006, 04:05 AM i am one of the ones that leave site5 and moved to bliksem. well i have still a reseller account there but i am moving my clients to bliksem.
ihave reseller xR-3 package, my server is joie on bliksem and its been only 2 months with bliksem. the most likely reason for me to decide moving was the troubles we had about sending emails. some of my clients was not able to send mail to some domains, lots of email delaying messeges and so on, and the complaints were growing bigger and bigger.
site 5 was a really good company at the beginning. by the way i am a customer of site 5 since august 2004. but lately they are not the same site5 that was a year ago. you see the complaining topics about them.
WHT did really helped me choosing the bliksem. i know this is my first posting and some of you may question the realibility of my opinions but i am watching reseller topics for some time. i had about 10 or 15 companies on my list. and reviews here and some search on google made my decison.
i am glad with my decision, moving my clients to bliksem solved that email disaster for me. they all responded my tickets and some of my silly questions kindly. their uptime is good. at least my sites are up when i/clients try to reach them. only last month they had server issue and had to swap chassis as they say and was down one and half hour.
marc_zoom 05-24-2006, 06:00 AM Thank you all for your comments.
I have gone with ResellerZoom for now. They have RAID, 24/7 Support and are a well established provider with over 100 servers. Just prefer to be with a large provider than a small startup.

Hi marc_zoom
Answering your questions:
- Could you tell what kind of account you hold with BlikSem - dedicated/vps/reseller ?
I have with bliksem 2 accounts in diferents servers as "RESELLER"
- Are they Anonymous/White labelled or do you have to use the server hostnames ?
Bliksem offers Anonymous DNS and custom DNS, i use my own custom DNS
- I see you are designated "WHT Addict", which means you a very knoledgeable and good at this, so consequently need lesser support. How would you rate BlikSem support for "newbie" or lets say getting there kind of user.
Bliksem support its very good for newbie / for all,
The best thing is the support people who works there ( in house )
- Is the support 24/7 - this means night time CST time zone ?
Blik Support is 365x24x7, i can tell you i submit ticket 31 december 1:00am and the ticket was resolved in 30min
NOTE: I AM RESELLER, NOT BLIKSEM EMPLOYED
See you,
Foxmen
Juanzo 05-24-2006, 03:24 PM I haven't tried Bliksemhosting but I would stay away from Site5, their service is horrible.
WireNine 05-24-2006, 03:28 PM The recent threads regarding site5's service and support, I would suggest stay away from them as well. Maybe in the future when they pull it all together.
wiseburn 05-24-2006, 07:02 PM BlikSem says "we run weekly backups free of charge. We do not charge extra for the backups we run on our servers. These backups are stored on both a second drive as well as offsite on another server."

Hi Marc_Zoom,
This is helpful, but if the drive with your site fails, you will have downtime.
With [hotswap] RAID and a good operator, your server will run on the remaining drives, the failed drive can be swapped out and rebuilt. Without hotswap, a good operator will let you know there will be downtime ahead of time, so you can tell your clients.
With Weekly backups, you can also lose up to a weeks worth of data. With a static site, this is probably not a problem as you have it a backup at home (what you uploaded) , with Forums, or other dynamically entered content. you don't.
It all depends on what you want to do. Bliksem looked good otherwise, I'm testing sales support at dotable.com now.

dimitar 05-26-2006, 03:57 PM Hi marc_zoom,
if i can help you with some uptime statistic for this 2 companies.
This is my own statistic from host-tracker.com
http://www.site5.com
up time: 99.98%
down time: 1 hour(s) 46 min(s)/15
http://www.Bliksemhosting.com
up time: 99.91%
down time: 8 hour(s) 19 min(s)/252
The statistic is aproximately for tha leatest year.
I have seen BliksemHosting started out and I can say that their support is pretty responsive. However, they are out of my budget now. You might want to keep away from Site5 with their ongoing problems.
