Just curious, i was expecting the index to happen until may 27-28. However my rank has changed on a few of my sites(via google toolbar). I also noticed 3 of my sites didnt get indexed yet that i submited to have them spider about a month ago. Hmm maybee their index is not complete yet.

I've noticed some changes in our rankings today, so yes it's doing it's thing. It may just not be done yet.

Okay things are a little buggy but now my site is coming up in

www3.google.com

Then it will make its way onto www2.google.com

and then finally be indexed onto www.google.com

For those of you that didnt already know, during a google update.

Your site will start at

www3.google.com
goto www2.google.com
and then get indexed on the main site www.google.com

The new index has been available sporadically at www.google.com, but is not yet finally in place. That's the way Google's updates always work. Based on past behavior, I'd expect the updated index to finally be there on Monday or Tuesday.

Spider, as in crawl your site get what they need to index you and then head to the next site :)

The "rank" shown on the toolbar is really PageRank... generally it's updated sometime after the updated index appears to be in place. But changes on the toolbar PageRank aren't a solid indicator that an index has completed.

The Google directory, too, changes usually around the same time as the update but isn't exactly an update indicator either. For example, I have a client site that just appeared in the directory, and still isn't in the regular Google results. Yesterday this site was in the directory with no PageRank indicated, today it has a 5 (which moved it ahead of a bunch of other sites in the directory listing).

The update completion indicator is, as vigor said, that results from the three different urls are identical. The easiest way to test it is to check the number of links to your site on each of three (or in the case of newly-added sites, just checking for the site url).

I wouldn't exactly agree with vigor, by the way, that things work so smoothly: the new index being in place first at www3, then at www2 and finally moved to www. Generally I'd say that different updated versions are in place at www3 and www2 during an update, and changes take place in both of them. Sporadically during this period an updated version may appear at www... and then disappear. The update is complete, again, when the same results are displayed on all three.
