my box has been crashing lately
and i'm not sure if this has anythign to do with it
it keeps printing that out in /var/log/messages severy few seconds

Is that some sort of Halflife/Counter-strike (whatever I don't play them) process 'hlds'?

Probably you would want to start troubleshooting that particular process I would imagine. Like not starting it up and seeing if the thing still oopses. If it doesn't oops then you have at least some idea (probably) of what is causing that.

Its probably a counterstrike issue. Search around for cs segfaults. I play Hunt the Wumpus -- it never segfaults.

Linux is a sourceforge project to administer Linux, It was just started and not much on it tho, just thought you might have been working on the development of it is all.
