Hello people.
I was wondering if you guys out there could share some info for me so I can finish up my research. I am wondering, on average, what is the average bandwidth usage per server in a shared hosting environment? so far, my number tell me anywhere from 1.5-2.5 mps per server, so I guess 2 mps give or take. Is this true for you?

From 5 to 10,000 GB - all depends on your users/sites hosted on the server.
Keep in mind it also depends on the server's specs as well as your space to bandwidth ratio.

I meant average bandwidth per shared server of a webhosting company.
I would assume 500-1500 websites...say 1000 websites per server and 1000 servers in total. Low end $5/mo market.
I don't mean a single user or some dedicated server reselling webhosting on it. I mean in a real webhosting company that has 10's of thousands of websites or even 100's of thousand websites.
On average per server what would it be...

On our larger shared serves we see an average of 8-10mbps

It's best to measure it as you grow, there is absolutely no way of estimating it correctly.
We can shoot figures at you 'til the cows come home, but every server is unique to what your users are actually doing, and how many users you have.
I would recommend that you shape the quantity of your users around the server, instead of shaping the server around your users. In other words, once you're full, you'll definately know about it!
