One of my customers wants to recieve orders from his online store via FAX. So what happens is a customer fills in his/her info on the form clicks submit and their order info as well as credit card info gets sent to my client's fax machine.


We are using OSCOMMERCE as our shopping cart- has anyone done this before? How secure is it? ( the "submit" page will be SSL'ed)

That depends, but generally it won't be very secure.

If you rely on 3rd party email to fax provider, on almost all cases you need to send orders in plain text by email, it is insecure.

On the other hand, if you send the fax by yourself (by installing a modem on the server and attach a phone line to it), it can be made secure enough, at least when seen on the Internet side of the process. However if some 3rd party knows how your system works, he can tap your or your client's phone line to intercept orders.
