RackMy.com 05-23-2002, 11:07 PM Their datacenter is actually Cybercon here in STL.
I see:IMPORTANT NOTE: We charge the bandwidth based on the AVERAGE usage in a month, NOT the TOTAL usage like most other companies do. So you can be sure that you're getting a lot more bandwidth for the money with us. GUARANTEE!!Average and total is pretty much the same thing. All software are pre-installed, you are required to provide your own license for each of them, if required Our engineers monitor more than 900 servers, routers, switches and fiber-optic connections within the primary ***** Network Operations Center located just inside SDC-01 (Sentris Data Center 1) in Seattle, Washington.

why would u even take time to consider a place that advertises almost 5megs of bandwidth and the server for $99/month? and they are claiming multihomed? even cogent only is not that cheap.
porcupine 05-24-2002, 12:20 AM 99/mo if you provide the media? A lot of places will install your software if you provide the media and licenses, at least a lot of small/reasonable places (dont expect rackshack to or anything). Also, they're part of *****? I know little about them other then what i hear, but if you do a search, ***** usually comes in the same sentence as Donhost, and thats a *bad* thing :(.
BTW, dont miss their $200 setup, that might be an indication, when their setup fee's are more then 2x their monthly fee's, it can sometimes indicate service is bad.
thesmallguyshost 05-24-2002, 02:28 AM I think you missed my point. Unless there's a secret I don't know about, it's not possible to get bandwidth for LESS THAN $20/meg. Figuring in power, server, rackspace, they are indirectly selling bandwidth for around $10/meg.... not possible and no one is dumb enough to over sell THAT much.

Yes, whenever people are talking about bad hosts, ***** and DonHost come into play, thats what i'm making reference for.
2Mhost, also, if you haven't already, their page really had me curious, so i went back, read that little TOS at the bottom, theres some really frightening stuff in there .
Revelation 05-25-2002, 10:28 AM 50GB (173kbps) AVERAGE Transfer per day (about 1500GB total per month)
That's a lie ;) Maybe they're saying that you can boost to 500 MBPS for a little while, and they'll top that off of the average, but from my knowledge 1024 KBPS = 300 GB of transfer. They're really giving you 50 GB of transfer per month, not day ;).
300/(1024 / 173) is aproximately
50.76 GB/Month.
Sounds like dumb sales people. That make the deal much more realistic, as it sounds like a ****** resale.

Even if they were 'legit' the offer wouldnt be ;)
iMail, HC and Windows would cost you more than $ 99 / month for the first year....never mind the hardware, data transfer, switch port etc....etc......
Cheers,
