Looking for a place to register domains, usually use godaddy but friends have had problems with them, apparently in TOS is says that you are not allowed to use the domain to sell hosting. Any information on a domain registrar would be helpful, ps. I'm looking for a private function such as godaddy's for a few bucks extra a year. Where they block out your information. Thanks

Michael

What about a place like Namecheap (http://namecheap.com). Godaddy and Namecheap are usually the best but to tell you the truth, I prefer Namecheap. :P

Can you please quote me that part of their ToS?

Thank you.

With coupon code you can get a domain with privacy for just over $10, which is the best deal ever for registration with privacy. What's even better you get quantity discounts and the whoisguard is transferrable between domains. You won't find a better deal than NameCheap, ANYWHERE.

Slight amendment - with coupon code, you can have com/net/org for $7.99, *including* privacy - as it's free for the first year.

Yep. I stand corrected, Stan. Free for first year only, then $2.88 for privacy. Still a bargain.

I'll look for it, but a friend of mine had his domain taken away, he was selling hosting with his design service. I believe the email he received talked about him reselling hosting, and that he was not allowed to do so with a GoDaddy domain. I'll look into it.

Also thank you, I'll look into NameCheap :).

Maybe he was reselling his resourses at GoDaddy hosting? Then it's different story - not all hosts want that to happen...

I'm a big fan of NameCheap.com and if you're absolutely looking for low-cost (mind you, you'll pay for such a low cost in one form or another) constantly then RegisterFly's not too bad.

If you're looking to resell domain names that's another story entirely and the options out there are plentiful.

Not at all. At the end of the day, you'll be stuck with either DirectI or eNom...

Or WildWestDomains :) There are other choices too. Most registrars have reseller programs. NameCheap and Dotster come immediately to mind, although not quite as cheap as the other two/three.
