SoftWareRevue 05-23-2002, 04:38 PM I think they would seriously be limiting their availability of potential customers. barrywien 05-23-2002, 05:07 PM Hello We started out only accpeting offline payments, but we where only getting like 1 or 2 orders per day and we needed to find some way of getting more customers fast to enable us to continue providing a service to our existing customers. We came up with the idea of publishing an online questionnaire on our web design clients sites to see what other people thought about it. The research showed that a majority or potential customers selected a package, went through the shopping cart procedures but when it got to the payment section when they could not see Visa or Master Card (most popular) in the drop down menu they left the site and purchased else where. After this luckily a UK based Payment Processor launched which was free to setup so we signed up and ever since we have had at least 1 order per day with some coming in from Ghana and USA. If anyone is interested, then I recommend PayStamp.com (http://www.paystamp.com/) for accepting Visa & Master Card online. Anyway that's my 2p worth StevenG 05-27-2002, 06:34 AM [Hello We started out only accpeting offline payments, but we where only getting like 1 or 2 orders per day and we needed to find some way of getting more customers fast to enable us to continue providing a service to our existing customers. Your website only shows one page with an email link on it..... you are lucky that you ever got 1 or even 2 sign ups per day with that...... barrywien 05-27-2002, 07:26 AM Hello, As we WEBDESIGNER i have many sites, i have registered on this forum with a new website address which i have not got round to using yet, the site I sell hosting from is http://www.dp-uk.co.uk/ Obviously we are not selling anything from Dedi-ISP.net as yet! :o Hostlinux 05-27-2002, 08:10 AM Agreed, only accepting cheque payments is seriously limiting your business potential. As we have clients in the US, Europe, E.U, even Australia, this would not have been possible if we did not have online payment. (We are based in the UK) Also, I do think that if a client does pay by credit card, they are rest assured that they can retreive there money back should something go wrong. You cant do this with cheque payments. sam.moses 05-28-2002, 11:56 PM It all depends what you're offering. If your services are low end enough that you need to quote prices on your web site, don't do offline payments. If you offer executive level or enterprise services, don't take online payments. Take bank transfers. |
