I have access to a few servers that i would like to dedicate to resellers.
The question is, what would resellers like to have included in the ideal account ?
let me know,

what type of plans ?
how much bandwidth ?
How much disk space ?
what would you like to pay per month ?
what type of control panels ?
what kind of plan would it take to make you as a reseller seriously consider dropping your curent host and move your accounts ?

Well...

They are all consumers wanting a Porsche for the price of a Kia. That is anyone really.

There are two type of resellers.

1) The type that gives you headaches everytime they call because they are so ignorant to the technology and try to do things that they have no idea on how to do and expect you to teach them. Meanwhile they are paying you $5 or $10/month/account (maybe less), but using 95% of your time. These are the resellers you DON'T WANT!!!

2) The ones that have been around. These guys at the beginning were going after the cheapest price. Of course, murphy's law - "You get what you pay for". They now understand that you may have to pay a few extra bucks, but make up for it in time saved because of idiot hosting companies that screw up or overload the servers because they are trying to squeeze as much money out of people.

There is a 3rd that is arising. Those resellers wanting to check financials of companies before they sign because of the onslaught of chapter 11's.

Live, smart support is very important. Resellers have customers to keep happy as well, so they need to be able to make contact and get something done. Along those lines, purchasing services from someone who operates a datacenter helps as well.

Many of the *younger* resellers want everything for free...

They also make up plans * that they have seen around the internet* with 5 gigs space 50 gigs bandwidth for $7 a month!

And threaten to go to WHT and expose you as a bad reseller as soon as you dont give them what they need.

The number of these people can be counted with one hand but as mentioned above they take up a large percentage of your resources when you can be focusing on your current customers.

All our customers are excellent i must admit, yes they have question and need some guidence but thats what its all about...

Make sure before you venture of to get resellers consider they have customers to so if you are not ready to at least have 16 hours FULL TIME of support its going to be difficult to make everyone happy.

Before you even consider what type of plans, bandwidth etc etc consider a business plan, and marketing tactics instead of throwing yourself into this.

Kind regards and good luck :)

because what is important is reliability. I want to be able to have good support and minimum downtime. If I don't have this then I can't offer quality service. I am willing to pay extra in order not to have hassles and headaches.

1. Resonable web space / bandwidth with right price (which could be IMHO, very subjective)
2. Live support of any kind, AIM, ICQ, or online real chat through "Live Support" or "Human Click"
3. Good helpdesk with resonable response time
4. Anyone that could resolve your problems quick enough :D

I agree with vpc, you should try by all means to stay away from reseller-type #1. Chances are, they are young and ignorant. You'll constantly receive questions from them that they could locate in a few minutes by reading your FAQ.

Personally, I'd try to launch higher-priced (~$25+) plans to keep away from them.

UPTIME AND SERVICE

I don't mind paying $50 or $75 for a reseller account (around 1 GB disk space and 15-20 GB BW) as long as there is quality service and the servers don't go down all the time.

Resellers have to understand that the customers get held responsible for any problems. There should be as few problems as possible and resolution should be immediate when there is a problem.
