Say I have nameservers set as:

mysite.com. IN NS ns1.mysite.com.
mysite.com. IN NS ns2.mysite.com.

ns1 IN A 123.123.123.123
ns2 IN A 123.123.123.124

Do then these nameserver IP's need a reverse zone set up also?
or is reverse lookup not revelent for the nameserver names.

Thanks for any advice.

YES get the reverse dns setup we just went through this::

AOL & Compuserve will block all mail sent from your server to their clients they will consider you an OPEN RELAY.

if you get on their s*** list you will need to call them after you have the reverse dns setup, it will then take 2-7 biz days to get your server off the list.

if you get on the list be prepared for the whines

lastly make the call to aol , if needed, at 6am...

get your noc to setup the reverse dns asap

AOL will ban email originating from your server
they see the lack of reverse dns as an open relay

ie spammers haven

if you dont get it done and aol blocks your email it takes 2-7 biz days to get the block lifted

and your clients will whine

we are living that one right now......
