View Full Version : Professional WHOIS
aka Wombat 05-09-2006, 05:39 PM How do you get a domain to look professional and configured correctly, protecting my personal info directly, like for example:
amazon.com (http://www.iwhois.com/index.php?domain=amazon&tld=com&lookup=Lookup&clean=1)
ComplexDrive 05-09-2006, 05:56 PM I think Network Solutions has made it special for them, did you check other domains with Network Solutions?
Domainitor 05-09-2006, 06:20 PM I don't see anything special about standard WHOIS results... What am I missing? Are you talking about something specific to the iWhoIs.com site? Or something in the WHOIS data?:eek3:

This is about not showing the "Registrar whois lookup (whois.opensrs.net)" WHOIS data
"standard" domain:
gamecopyworld (http://www.iwhois.com/index.php?domain=gamecopyworld&tld=com&lookup=Lookup&clean=1)
"protected" domain:
wired (http://www.iwhois.com/index.php?domain=wired&tld=com&lookup=Lookup&clean=1)
please can someone with experience respond...
either a place or service/reseller that offers this for me would be helpful.
and some domain proof to back it up. thanks.
Techno 05-09-2006, 08:02 PM It all depends where you do your search from. If you go to netsol.com's WHOIS & input amazon.com you will see all the details. If I use dotster's WHOIS I see all the details for my dotster registered domains but a short 'professional' setup for my non dotster domains. Other WHOIS sites give different results. I don't know if this is controlled by the registrar or is caused by how the calling WHOIS is configured. Bottom line you can always see full details if you use the WHOIS where the domain was registered.

lmao, ok thanks for answering my question. so to get the privacy i want, i just start searching whois on all types of engines to prove that its useless. ok nice one there genius. pretty negative comments here...
aka Wombat 05-09-2006, 09:37 PM to make it clear, i already know about the whois lookup for registrants' domains. i stated "directly" protect me, as in - not looking me up from my exact registars' database- but at any old whois lookup. cause my thinking is that ppl dont use my registrars lookup, they use a universal one. like the one i posted. lets not get sidetracked...but maybe that means indirect protection, wtv.. u please get me? i was just wondering if "ID Protect" is the service that does what i need, or if it is something different like a reselling thing. hopefully someone will give me some solid answers.
solidar 05-09-2006, 10:13 PM if you use resellerclub I think they make the whois custom for you. You might try them
Domainitor 05-09-2006, 11:55 PM nice one there genius.
Damn.... I shouldn't have dropped that mind reading class in High School...
Wombat: These people are trying to help. Why're you being so ascetic? Your question wasn't presented very clearly, and they took their best shots. Some of us here actually do know what we're talking about.
aka Wombat 05-14-2006, 06:58 AM can anyone using Domainsite's Hidden Whois service show me a domain example of how it shows up on domaintools.com?
mripguru 05-14-2006, 08:23 AM Actually, according to the rules, you can either a) mask your information from the public by using a service like Domains by Proxy, etc. et. al. or b) provide valid contact information that is verifiable.

That's amazon's. It's not private. Network Solutions has blocked all WHOIS queries to their DNS, you can only find out WHOIS information from Network Solutions web site directly if the domain was registered there.
If you want your information to be private you can let companies register the domains on your behalf. That way they use their address and contact information.
aka Wombat 05-14-2006, 04:28 PM domainsite's "hidden whois" service does what exactly? i ask again... im not making this up that's what they call their service...

Stan Marsh 05-14-2006, 04:34 PM domainsite's "hidden whois" service does what exactly?
Exactly the same as GoDaddy's Domains by Proxy, NameCheap's WhoisGuard, RegisterFly's ProtectFly, etc etc etc. - it puts some kind of 'proxy' registrant/admin/tech/billing details in the whois output. Usually it's the registrar's name and address.
aka Wombat 05-14-2006, 06:48 PM I found this site: http://domainregister.com/
http://whois.domaintools.com/domainregisterprivateregistrations.com
they actually don't use a proxy service at all. the overall cost is $28.95/year compared to a $43.99/year NetSol private account. bla!
aka Wombat 05-14-2006, 08:37 PM Neoboffin
I could ask a company to register the domain on my behalf, I'm considering it, and my theory is that the companies that have that nice listing on NetSol have SRSplus reseller accounts.

They USE proxy address. Although, they have got a very bright idea to use registrant's name instead of their own.
