View Full Version : Enom disabled my account!
NoOne 05-07-2006, 04:39 AM Hello guys,
I'm here to tell you my story and to ask you for any advise about my situation with enom..
It starts when a domain has expired and I wanted to renew it. I tried to login in to my account but I received a message telling me that my account has been disabled! I sent an email to the support people and they tell after a while that I my credit card was expired and I need to give them a new one....
Ok, I send them the information along with a fax signed from me just to retrieve my account and renew this domain. Everything seems fine they took their money and my domain will expired in 2010 ( from here (http://www2.dnstools.com/?lookup=on&wwwhois=on&arin=on&checkp=on&portNum=80&ping=on&all=on&target=algawab.net&submit=Get+Info) ) ..
Unfournutly they didn't activate the account again even thought they had their payment. I keep sending them emails and they said that my bank is refusing to fund the charge...
I talked to my bank and they didn't find any problem...
I'll consider charging back as an option here but after I hear your opinion...
samspin 05-07-2006, 05:10 AM DON'T do a chargeback. If you do, they will probably take away all the domains you and your customers have, then sell them... No registrar tolerates chargebacks for any reason. Registerfly.com is proof of that- they will freeze your account and make you pay a fee PLUS the charge-backed amount even if they fraudulantly took it in the first place (e.g. when you unsucessfully register a domain and try again, it duplicates the transaction, and doesn't refund you)- and when you do pay them, they WON'T give it back.
Once they have you're money, they won't reply to any of your emails... that is what I have heard...
I'm NOT saying Enom are like that, I am giving an example of a registrar being strict about chargebacks. They won't look at why the chargeback occured, they just want your money, no questions asked, no excuses, even if you are right...
Have you told them the funds have gone out of your bank account, and so MUST have been recieved? The only other option would be to phone them... but I guess you can't find that...?
The domain looks renewed, so MUST have been payed for, because money doesn't come from nowhere...
If e-mails do not seem to work, then forget e-mails. Did you call them? Chargeback should always be your last option.
gerolsteiner 05-07-2006, 02:35 PM From my experience, accounts are usually only locked for fraud or security reasons. It's likely, in your case, that if you were asked for credit card details, the lock is there due to a charge back.
TheFashionTalk 05-07-2006, 03:30 PM You should try calling them.
Agree. Calling them is best. Especially if you are US based. If you have even threatened them (well, any registrar) you are going to make a chargeback, they will lock your account.
Stan Marsh 05-08-2006, 02:42 AM Stu >> as far as I understand, OP is SA based, so the call will be international. Also, he'll must call in the middle of the night his local time... :(
I must agree with Stu though that any registrar will lock you out, if you'll even mention chargeback.
johny_gjx 05-09-2006, 06:38 PM eNom has recently been acquired by group led by former MySpace.com chairman, hopefully eNom would remain one of the best providers regardless of any change!
Back to the story:
I sent an email to the support people and they tell after a while that I my credit card was expired and I need to give them a new one....
Is the above enough reason to lock an account? chargeback is not something he has been considering before the account had been locked.
NoOne 05-10-2006, 01:34 AM Thanks guys for your feedbcaks ....
I tried everything exept calling them. I think I'll try to ...
Right now even so I didn't charge them back the domains start to expired and without the abaility to renew them it seems that I will lose all my domains in a while ..
The probelm is that I have almost 4 years dealling with them. I thought that would count for somthing but that only in my head!
belive it or not they even didn't care about this topic in this popular board because we didn't see anyone working with them here to explain and try to help!
That's what the real company do!

Bader

Two words: skype.com
Ok.. maybe three words.
Use skype, and the call is a whopping 2 cents per minute. Being "international" is not an excuse for not being able to call.
mrzippy 05-12-2006, 10:38 PM Also, eNom does not "lock" accounts for no reason. They do it because of suspected fraud.
So if they suspect you of fraud, it is not because someone doesn't like you or has a person grievance against you. It is because of something that has occured in your account.
Mistakes do happen, and sometimes money transfers don't end up in the right place.
If your bank has transferred the money, then you should request your bank to do a trace of the transfer and find out EXACTLY where that money was sent.
If you can PROVE that the money was sent to eNom, then give eNom all the proof, and ask them to look into it.
DO NOT DO A CHARGEBACK.
If you do a chargeback, then you have now legitimized their case against you and you will NEVER see your domain name again.
