I wanted to know whether you could speak of a "unique design" or not if you download a template from www.templatemonster.com (for example) and edit it.

If the logo, colors or layout is edited, may you speak of a unique design then?

I think you can because nobody else has it, if you know what I mean.

If you download a TM & edit it to your liking so that it doesn't look anything like the original, then I'd say yes.

Only if it doesn't resemble the template at all. Otherwise it is what it is: an "edited template". :)
