Can tell me where I can find a side by side comparsion of a Windows 2000 sever vs a Linux Sever running (lets say Redhat 7.3)

my expirience: UNIX should be everywhere, home, work, and of course server.

it depends on your needs and what you'll be using it for , as far as webhosting is concerned , i would go with linux .

If you are wanting to use things like ASP, MSSQL Server, MS Access and a load of other Microsoft based technologies go with Windows 2000. For anything else go with *nix.

Nothing can beat Linux/Unix for webservers, absolutely nothing :cool:

Of course, unless you love ASP badly and couldn't spend more time to learn PHP.

Windows .NET looks cool on how many things it can do.

But, of coarse Linux can beat Windows anyday.

The only reason Windows there is always security risks, it is because people always go looking for them, why? Because its Microsoft!

Well ASP you can have in Linux too, either free from Apache::ASP or Chilisoft ASP.

But I will take a Linux server over anything else, anyday.

The only one that can process vbscript is chilisoft which is not free.

Apache::ASP also processes VBScript.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know Apache::ASP only processes PerlScript.
