Hi, I'm looking for a new reseller account after deciding to leave "We'll charge you for it all" Fasthosts.

I'm basically looking for getting all the things for free that Fasthosts charge for but should be free. I'm talking mainly MySQL here.

I was looking at cyberhostpro but since they're new still I'm not sure. I need absolute reliability. I used to be in the UK but now in Canada. Not sure if I should go for a UK one or Canadian one though. Is there much difference?

Also, I'm looking to buy this today really so all advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello PlayingKarrde,

Can you please elaborate on what sorts of things you feel you should not be charged for?

I do not believe you would see many hosts charging for mysql, however, sme hosts have limits on the number of mysql DB's, while others have limits on total allocation to mysql.

Besides the mysql issue, was fasthosts a reliable provider for you? Sometimes leaving a host to save a few dollars can end up costing you more in the long term.

Anyway, best of luck with your search...

We rented a windows server from CPH before we got our own VPS and dedicated plans and never had any problems :-)

I know they have US and UK servers now as well which is always a bonus!

What extras does FH charge?

last time i checked they charged £5 per control panel for your users. and they charge high rates for extra databases etc.

Hi,

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. I guess the things that I didn't want to be charged for anymore were the little things like MySQL, stats, customer control panels, ASP and such.

I'm looking at Windows 2003 servers only yes.

Price range, probably around 40 a month. Fasthosts provide unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space, but I don't need THAT much. I have lots of sites hosted, but realistically, most are pretty small.

Fasthosts were reliable (apart from 1 agonising two week stint a couple of years ago...) but I'm just fed up of all the extra costs. I think 588 a year is already enough, do I really have to pay for more? Plus I didn't feel they responded well to what their customers wanted (just take a look at their support forums - well if you have an account there...).

Not just EXTRA databases: any databases. I think its £25 a year for MySQL and £25 a month for MSSQL? Something along those lines.

They keep adding features (like recently the useless blogging extra) but of course, these all cost. I don't remember the last free thing I got from them and I've been there for over 3 years now.

We have a reseller account on Site5 since over one year. Their support is fast and the uptime is good. The prices is inexpensive. Also they provide free tools like ClientExec, RVSKIN, Fantastico... etc. We recommend them if you are looking for a reliable provider.

ClientExec, RVSKIN, Fantastico... etc.

These are all Linux scripts not windows.

Well basically I'm mainly looking at CHP. Chris, I can see you are from there, just tell me that based on what I've said, you guys can offer me a better service than FH (just say yes will do) and I'll take your word on it and sign up today.

Probably the wrong way of doing it, but I need hosting real soon and don't have time to do a mass of research.

fasthosts do have alot of hidden charges why not try contact an existing fasthosts reseller and get the added benefits of it not costing you as much but you will still have to charge your customers for extra services such as mysql.

however the only down side is you will have to use the resellers branding. still that might not be a bad thing

i myself am a fasthosts reseller if you would like to discuss anything with me just pm me or drop me an email
