View Full Version : CPANEL (VDI) or Alabanza Control Panel
on211 05-22-2002, 12:14 PM Dear friends,
I have a account in nomonthlyfees.com.
This company is a resseler of Alabanza and VDI.
My domain now have a Alabanza Control Panel.
It is better to transfer my domain to VDI company with cpanel or it is better to remain in the Alabanza Control Panel?
All the other features of the accounts are the same.
Thanks a lot.

avara 05-22-2002, 01:54 PM From what I've seen, Alabanza's network is far more reliable than VDI. So in other words, unless they force you, I would stay with Alabanza if I were you.

Have to disagree. :)
Over the past few months the VDI network has been pretty much rock solid. Even the recent network upgrades were done smoothly, and they are now in a much better position with a multihomed network.
on211 05-23-2002, 09:26 AM Also the alabanza have static ip address.
Do you know anyone what is the pros of this?
Thanks all for the replys.
Regards,
Nick
avara 05-23-2002, 09:30 AM Unless you need to use anonymous FTP, or have your own SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate installed, there isn't really any need for a dedicated IP address.
But back to the reliability of VDI, they may have been rock solid recently, but you have to admit that they've had a lot of problems in the past. ;)
William 05-23-2002, 02:08 PM so does everyone else,
alabanza had almost a year of Network going up and down ect..
The point is just about al companies have had some issues in one form or another.
mdrussell 05-23-2002, 02:17 PM All companies experience problems. VDI's response was pretty impressive, I believe they have learn from their mistakes.

LOL...well not a year of network/up and down...if that were true, we would be gone. This past year we've had a few issues, but nothing major, my opinion only :D
CrowMan 05-23-2002, 04:47 PM We had to get off Alabanza!
Their service went down after their move to their new place and the prices for servers and ALL the EXTRAs they did not tell you about made it where we HAD TO MOVE!
We paid for a year up front! We started moving people after the first 6 months and Moved to a Cpanel host.
You can get 2 VDI servers for the price of one Alabanza server with all of the other charges they stick you with!
We thought our customers work have a fit giving up the Alabanza Control Panel but they did not miss it at all. The extras that the Cpanel gives them made it where they did not even look back!
The down falls of Cpanel are, The Updates that are forced on you! We call them BUGDATES. Cpanel is also UGLY! We bought a 3rd party skin. This does two things.... It puts a better face on Cpanel and it stops NICK from adding things to the Cpanel with out doc.s and NO support!
Our problem is deoskins.com had not put out a update for the skin we are using for some time! They say it will be out in a day or so. They have the best skins out for Cpanel! They are just slow with the updates! We are all dressed up with no place to go! BUT on the other hand it give Nick and the Cpanel people time to fix all of the BUGS as all of the poor saps that let him control their Cpanels find all of the bugs for them!
Cpanel is the best thing going at this time but others are close on Cpanels neck!
Cpanel with deoskins makes for a very good product!

CrowMan

Yes, VDI now has an OC-12 line from AT&T (just installed last week), a backup Cogent line and I believe one more line from a different provider.
