We have a shopping cart that has a built in affiliate program, we use it only to track roi on google and yahoo. we have found it unreliable and at times does not pick up or credit the sale due to a click through.

a typical tracking url we would use would be

http://domain.com/index.php/action/category/id/11?aid=gkeyword

where g is for google.

if i track the sale via ip and then slave through the logs i can see the referring url and keyword, but this is really a pain.

Before i plunge on affiliate software, that possibly could repeat this error

what am i missing?

I need a referral for good software that will help me track roi through google and yahoo only, i wont use it for affiliates.

thanks for any advice/referrals

G

there is most likely an error in the code somewhere. we can have a look for you or re-write the entire thing

Maybe you'll find following site useful:

Thanks for the mention Furl.

Re the original question you might want to look at PPC tracking software. Google Analytics will track your ROI if you can track back to GA your sale value.

On the server side another option is to use something like indextools which will give you ROI for inbound campaigns from not just PPC but other sources like affiliates or email campaigns etc. In this case you need to give the "cost" to indextools, but it will know your sales if you tag it on the confirmation page.

There's other dedicated ppc roi tools out there but I don't have a handy list.

Peter
